No idea if Di Maria will stay to be honest. The latest Pedro rumours seem to be fairly widely briefed after a Woodward interview last night.
Can't see us wanting Pedro as a bench player, and can't see him wanting to switch from Barcelona bench to ours.
Would hate to see Di Maria go because I think he could be excellent for us next season but Pedro may be a better player within the system LVG wants to use

Whether we are in the market for a striker could depend on how the above pans out.

Think we could be ok up top if we are playing 433/4231.

Rooney as first choice then Wilson, Hernandez as direct replacements. Depay could also play upfront if needed and LVG has talked about using Januzaj as a false 9.

Last night LVG said we are still looking to stengthen in two positions. One is almost definitely CB and the other has to be striker or winger.

Hey - I read somewhere (can't remember where) that United fans have gotten fucked off with Di Maria's woeful body language. Can't say I've noticed it myself, but is this something that rankles you lot?

Not particularly I would be happy if he could repeat his early season performances. Whether he does that with a frown or a smile is secondary.

I don't fancy City's chances this season. They were poor last season were overly reliant on Aguero to confirm their top 4 place. As things stand they are an Aguero injury away from dropping out of the top 4 this season. They have bigger problems at left back than us, they need Kompany to re-find his form and need to find him a decent CB partner, they need Zabaleta to improve hugely on last season. They also need Yaya to improve on last season but he's now 32 and could be a fading force, they also need to find him a decent CM partner (better than Fernandinho, Fernando or Delph). If they get DeBruyne it would be a big help but even with him I can't see them winning anything this season.

City look like they need to spend another 100-150mill at the moment to be in a position to win the league again at the moment, which they're capable of doing. They need a CB and another striker at least.

Who will replace them in the top 4? Us? Spurs?

They have too much quality as it stands and will undoubtedly add more by the end of the summer.

I agree that they have problems but in the main they can make substantial improvements just by putting out a balanced team that doesn't have a fading Yaya who wants a free role along with David Silva who really wants a free role together with Nasri who isn't good enough to get away with not having a defensive game.

I think that lack of balance makes them lean on individual brilliance (i.e. Aguero) more than they should.

As things stand I reckon Chelsea will win it, Arsenal in 2nd and 3rd, 4th, 5th is between us, City and United and IMO City look the most vulnerable.

The FFP specific restrictions on City have been removed but don't they still have to comply with normal FFP rules?

Possibly, but we've seen the standard now - If they breach FFP, they take them to court over any sanctions, and the sanctions get removed.

Couldn't have happened to a nicer snake. Anyone see the fucking 'penalty'? Ball comes out of the sky to sterling about a metre outside of the box, he handles it, it bounces off his arm onto ramos's arm - so the ref blows up and gives a pen against ramos, for handball, outside of the box?!?

Delph tears his hamstring 17 mins into his City debut.

Lolteasers.

This is The Imperial on Thursday while I was still enjoying myself in the Barossa.

Motherfucker!!!!!!!

Looks like Di Maria is a good as gone. Missed his flight to the States.

Very disappointed had high hopes for him this season and as poor as he was for parts of last season he still managed to get the most assists.

Rumours that we will get back £45m (€64m) of the £60m(€75m) spent on him.

Gallactico policy from last season very underwhelming. Let's hope his replacment works out better.

It's the right thing to do though. He's a good player right enough, but he's clearly too unhappy to stay, and making him do so under those circs.would have got you nothing except a vastly reduced fee when he finally left. That's why I too was hoping you'd keep him. 😉

You are probably right.

Looks like we will recoup most of the initial cost and spend less than half on Pedro.

For your purposes, Pedro is an upgrade for a third of the cost of what you paid for ADM. So can't complain on that front.

And whatever hit you take on Di Maris, Utd can afford.

Little to dislike from a Utd fan's point of view.

He never wanted to leave Madrid and you can't blame him really. I guess that's the risk of signing stars from Madrid. They've tasted the greener grass already and I expect driving through Madrid to link up with Ronaldo, Bale and Benzema was better than driving through Salford to link up with Phil Jones.

He would probably have joined PSG last season if FFP wasnt an issue.
Nearly a 30 mill hit in one year with wages and fee. Utd wont even mind that.
