There is absolutely no guarantee that this transfer will be a success.

However just because a player in his 30's has an injury filled season playing less thsn 20 games doesn't me they can't go on to play 30+ games again.

Gerrard miss a load of games in 2010/2011 and went on to play 30+ the two seasons after that.

Might not happen like that but worth the risk.

He's a player with a LOT of miles on the clock and is now injury prone. He'll play in 20 league games, maximum.

I reckon he might start about 25 league games and with that I think he will be an extremely valuable squad player.

Herrera and Schneiderlin as first choice of the 3 CM. With Schweinsteiger, Carrick and then Blind slotting in when needed/fit. Against weaker teams we could even go with Schneiderlin, Herrera and Mata/Di Maria as an AM.

Bayern wouldn't have let him go if he was a) still great, and b) still physically capable of playing a full season at the top level,
He's much like gerrard, can still do a job in the top division for someone, but not be a top player for a top 4 team.

Bayern are pretty stocked in CM so have better options than us and weren't willing to offer a final big contract.
We are less stocked in CM and can afford to offer bigger wages.

Gerrard is 4 years older and he had good 30+ game seasons in 2012/13 & 2013/14 after injury and in his thirties.

Not expecting him to anything as good as that but like I said 20 games plus and he will be a great addition to the squad.

As said earlier. I think its a calculated risk so that you have either Carrick or Schweinsteiger available.
If they both get about 25 games each and either of them are available for most the season its a success.
There was such a big difference when Carrick wasnt playing last season.
Schneiderlin is excellent but doesnt offer that in the same role.

Its a big risk mind. Schweinsteiger could easily break down with his poor ankles and knees. A Long term injury is just waiting to happen. 250k is a bit insane but you've got all the money in the World.
If it works out I can see Utd challenging for the title.
If both end up injured I can see a fight for 4th on the cards again.

If Schweinsteiger starts 25 league games, that would be outstanding for you guys and definitely worth the money.

Do you think Di Maria will stay? Are you guys in the market for a striker?

Taking risks on older players with known injury difficulties is always worthwhile if you're talking about using other people's money. I've decided this after doing a risk assessment.

You massively overpaid for Schweinsteiger, but you can afford it, and if it pays off he's more than worth it, so in my book i'd be happy with the signing as a United fan. Sure you could argue the money could have been spent better, but does it really matter when you've clearly got enough cash to spunk on Schneiderlin, Depay , Damian, and whilst it's obvious you're ready to spend massively on someone like Ramos and another attacker. I think if we signed him it would be more of an issue because in signing him we'd be wasting precious resources, but you've got so much cash over there, why the fuck not?

Ass-amoah Gyan, that guy loves a bit of cash

For Asamoah Gyan last week should have been about his move to join the Chinese Super League side Shanghai SIPG on a reported £227,000 a week. It should have been about whether he is really making the best use of his talents or whether, at 29, he would be better off in Europe chasing medals rather than cash. As it turned out, last week was about another scandal. Gyan is a man, it seems, perpetually wedded to controversy.

The latest furore erupted after a 22-year-old student revealed she had had an affair with Gyan. He does not deny it but what he does deny is her claim that she is pregnant with his child and that he “forcibly sodomised” her in her bathroom, something she claims to have on video, although she has said now is not the right time to release the tape.

Pellegrini "Delph is a top, young English player and we need those for our Capital One Cup games"

Ahahahhaaha !

For real? He decides to leave and they still have to pay up the rest of the contract?

I'm in the wrong job.

No. Highly unlikely. If not impossible. Without specific clauses the default position in contract law is :

If a club wants to get rid of a player, the starting position is they need to pay up his entire contract. (complete the contract early)

If you want to sell a player, the player is willing to go but he's going to get less wages at his new club - you pay the difference between what he would have earned with you and what he will earn - for the length of your contract with the player. (our usual scenario)

In this scenario, Delph leaves getting a pay rise. He benefits from ending the contract early, so he has no loss to be compensated for.

No idea if Di Maria will stay to be honest. The latest Pedro rumours seem to be fairly widely briefed after a Woodward interview last night.
Can't see us wanting Pedro as a bench player, and can't see him wanting to switch from Barcelona bench to ours.
Would hate to see Di Maria go because I think he could be excellent for us next season but Pedro may be a better player within the system LVG wants to use

Whether we are in the market for a striker could depend on how the above pans out.

Think we could be ok up top if we are playing 433/4231.

Rooney as first choice then Wilson, Hernandez as direct replacements. Depay could also play upfront if needed and LVG has talked about using Januzaj as a false 9.

Last night LVG said we are still looking to stengthen in two positions. One is almost definitely CB and the other has to be striker or winger.

Hernandez is offski, isn't he? West Ham were the latest of a number of clubs linked with him in the paper this morning.

Imo Gerrard never reached the 09 level again after the injury. That's another story.

I think the physical nature of the PL will show that a swine can be bought at too great a cost. 200k a week for him is madness. If I'm right and Carrick is out again for a prolonged period of the season We only have 98 problems...
