Paying 40 million quid for a 29 year old badly disciplined defender used to playing in a slower and considerably less competitive league? I'm very happy for Utd to piss away their money in this way thanks very much.

I dunno Mac. Ramos is a very good player who is vastly experienced. He would definitely improve them IMO.

Who is a brilliant available centre back though? We're in an era of David Luiz costing 50 million. Ramos is a good centre back, not amazing, often rash, but still much better than what they have. I expect him to get sent off a reasonable amount though. He'll be well protected by their midfield and will improve their defence.

They have the money doc so his fee to them is a bit irrelevant. I think Ramos is a great player who would improve them. I suppose it's a case of rating Ramos or not. I'm also biased as I said. I think I must be in the minority of people who actually 'likes' Ramos. Anyway, I don't think he'll move. He'll stay at Madrid.

I just don't fancy him adapting very well, and I don't rate him as highly as some others I guess. And they have the money, but it isn't unlimited, so if they're going to splurge, I want them to splurge badly. 40 million plus 200,000 a week over 4 years = £81,600,000. You can't do that many of those sorts of deals, so if they're going to do it, I'm very happy to look forward to seeing Ramos getting sent off in a wet muddy night in the Brittania.

True. Rafa might not still be there though. Longevity is not often associated with Madrid managers these days and I can see Rafa parting ways after a season. I hope he does well there though.
