I mean what is he doing that is so much worse than......

+ ING

Maybe, he said "steady" in Spanish, whilst Fudgie was imparting some knowledge, forgetting that the new boss was fluent in that language ?

That video was a bit like the Ince one that was on here the other week. I kept waiting for something amazing but it never really came.

And it was only the reserves! If he was that good he should really be looking better than that

Or maybe he's discovered like the last 3 managers that he isnt good enough
You can't say that Benitez didn't rate him. He was like 18 years old when Benitez left and he still gave him his first taste of first team football.

Felt the same about Downing's performance against Sunderland.

So, the conclusion would be? That they're both a bit shit?
The conclusion for me would be to sell the one we bought for close to £20 Million and keep the one who basically was free and is being paid less.

I think Pacheco, like Suso, now plays with an awareness, vision and speed of thought that is beyond most of the ressies. They both need to be playing with better players.

Hahahaha you must be dreaming, the truth is if he played that way for the first team he'd be our best player so what more do you want from a reserve. Also the fact he didn't do anything amazing in that entire game gives you hope that he won't struggle to transfer his game to first team matches.

The worry is if he was being indulgent and making fools of the defenders like he was messi. Of course in that case he would never be able to do that to premiership players. But he just looked bright, had good control of the football, and played dangerous passes. None of that is likely to vanish just because he plays against better footballers.

Agreed. The lad's looking much more assured with his play these days. As is Suso.
They either need to be in the match day squads to get chances here and there or go out on loan to decent clubs to further their game.
Lots of people here are against loans, but I think that comes from our recent past of mostly loaning out players without much hope of becoming stars, that inevitably failed when they came back to us.
I think potential first team players like those two could really benefit by playing alongside men.
Like with Jonjo at Blackpool.

In the squad for Thurs

Thats good for him.

I don't think Rodgers hate Pacheco at all, but let's face it; We can't just stock up the team with potential youngsters and cross our fingers that it will some how miracelous work out. The team didn't win NextGenTel series last year, and it is a huge different being a junior and a senior. Downing have big limitations, but it is a much bigger chance that he will contribute positively over the whole season than pacheco, even if Pacheco could potentially have a few better games.

0 assists.
0 goals.
Pacheco's got a hell of a challenge ahead of him. Not many attackig players can keep that record throughout an entire season.

I agree - reserve team matches are pretty dreary and not furiously competitive. Those on the fringes of the first team are mainly trying to avoid getting injured. It's possible that playing in the reserves has a negative effect on the likes of Pacheco. There's only one way of knowing if a promising youngster is ready for first team football, and that's giving them a game.

Daniel Pacheco @dani37pacheco
A ver un poco la champions. Vamos Málaga !!!! Mañana viaje a suiza a jugar la UEFA el jueves ... Disfrutar de España. En Liverpool llueve !!

Going to Switzerland with the squad. Chance perhaps?

I'll be interested to see if he plays tomorrow, hes reached a point where he needs to be playing first team football, not necessarily with us, but reserve team football can only take a player so far, if hes not going to make it with us then I think next summer will be the time for him to move on

As others has said hes young on relatively low wages so there is no real harm in keeping him in the first team squad for the next 8 months to see what he can do, even if hes no better than Downing he must be on about 25% of the wages and has the potential to improve

In order to sell, you need someone willing to give you money for what you're offering. Unfortunately when that offering is an over the hill, 0 goals, 0 assists, turd, the only people stupid enough to pay for him already own him. That's why he's still here.

Possibly, but Pacheco is quite versatile and he played on the wing for Spains U19 team when he won the golden boot.

Pacheco is a number 10 and Rodgers system doesn't allow for a traditional number 10 type player. Simple

The system allows clever skilled players in attacking roles. One thing is to keep possesion, but the system (at least as far as I see it) is about outplaying the opposition by setting up several alternatives as you pass your way through the press levels. Then you require movable technical players, and from what i have seen of Pacheco he is both moveable and technical. if he is good enough remains to be seen, but I can't see his type of player falling outside this system?
