What next for Rodgers?

I think anyone who is just coming around to wanting Rodgers to go has no right to hate him. But most of that is reactionsim* based on a result. I see genuine flaws in a lot of what he does. He has been truly awful this year. He played 13-14 player last year and looked intelligent somehow. He's been unable to create a system for these players to succeed in at all; His in game decisions have been awful; He's been slow to change things when they're not going well; Taken of players having good games; Ruined the momentum in some games; Frozen out a defender who could defend; Continued to play a pace merchant who can't defend or attack in defense/midfield/who knows; Has stuck with Can in defense after he started having consistent issues (I don't think its a coincidence that Can looked better at RCB with Manquillo and then Markovic, of course those two defended well but didn't attack constantly); He's been unable to get the team to create the right types of chances for any of our strikers; He's picked the wrong False 9s; He has introduced only one youth player (the one so talented he should have been given a chance at False 9 before Sterling and miles before Coutinho and Lallana); He fills the team up with tiny players in the world's most physically demanding football league; He doesn't drill the defense so they have a shape (too busy changing formations to have a shape); He doesn't have a good eye for talent and by that I mean he often persists with the less talented and bins the more talented; His teams take forever to be fit at the start of the year; He refuses to play pragmatically, even for periods of the game or season (like when they aren't fit, you numpty); He gets outwitted by all levels of managers; His press conferences have been horrific and deluded; The performances at the end of the season were worse than the beginning and the players did not seem to know how to fight.

The best thing Rodgers ever did was get Suarez to buy in. Suarez believed in Rodgers vision of football. And for a force of nature who can be everywhere, press non stop, create space, put the ball on a plate for teammates, score goals and is bat shit crazy then Rodgers' completely reckless attacking style would be a dream. It led to the whole magic of last year.

I had had my doubts for awhile, I completely lost faith in him during the derby in February and I've wanted him to go at the end of the season for a few weeks now. When you believe a poison is dragging your club down and still watch every game and have to read his quotes... I mean, of course I hate him. I would happily eat crow if this guy can change enough about himself and become a success story. But I don't see it. I'm going to take a break from LFC for the summer if he is still on board. Hopefully there are some good signings for me to come back to in the fall and a man on a mission. I still don't plan on missing games.

Good, because I've 'come around' to wanting him gone but I don't need or want the right to hate him. He desperately wanted to be a successful manager of my football club...it hasn't worked out but I really don't need to hate the guy. And to describe him as 'poison' as you did later on in that long and utterly irrelevant post really is ridiculous. You've used hyperbole to try and add weight to a legitimate argument being made by the majority of posters on here...the majority of whom have done so far more eloquently achieving far greater credibility.

It looks like Rodgers will outlast a fair few of you then.

I can't see him going. He's clearly got potential, he's got years left on his contract and has a summer to prove himself.

Reading some of the shit on here, I wouldn't be so sure.

You're not going to attract new fans with failure but you could easily lose some fickle ones with it. The fickle fans are usually the ones who buy merchandise because they want to show who they support whereas the fans who have been going the game for years never step foot inside the club shop.

Well ordinarily training the shower of shite we've seen in past games into a side and bringing in some quality players? I appreciate there's a committee that assist with transfers.

If you lose the confidence of players and fans then how do you stay? You can buy new players but not new fans.

You can buy new fans though, lets be honest.

If idiots are fickle enough to start calling him a cunt in October and asking for him to be sacked, then they're fickle enough to swung with an upturn in fortune due to some good signings. Look at the idiots who burnt Gerrard's shirt, or the ones giving Sterling shit, they will be same ones applauding him if he ends up staying.

Well the training we've done for the past year hasn't exactly produced dividends has it? He has shown no signs of being able to organise a defence no matter what players or system or formation he's used. Without Suarez and the perennially injured Sturridge he's doesn't look like he has a clue of what to do with the other strikers.
The motivational side of the game was self evident in the Villa semi final and against stoke, United and palace.
Recruitment has been laughable over the last year and whether all of them were his idea or not he had the last say on whether we got them or not. He himself made that clear.

Did he make that clear? He's seemed pretty vague about a few players, particularly Mario who he said he had no interest in signing a week before we did exactly that.

I'm not gonna argue against his ability to set a side up defensively one bit, or that we've pissed money away. I'm just saying fans are fickle enough to be bought back, which is why the shite being posted back as early as October, after a fairly successful 18 months, was pathetic.

Mark do you accept that the majority of fans have lost faith in Rodgers? If so how does he get them back on side then? New signings or not I for one still won't have any faith in Rodgers as manager and i suspect a lot of other people will feel the same.
I accept that the more fickle a fan the more likely you are to lose faith but i think he's lost the die hard fans as well. Once they lose faith in a manager he's finished.

Then what's the point? I've already said he has made a rod for his own back, but if he stays what do we do if he does well? Many would get back onside, while others would just sit here still calling him a cunt and jumping on every fuck up while continuing to hand out selective reasoning, willing him to fail. That's what I don't get or buy into, you either want us to do well or you don't.

I'm far from Glen Johnson's biggest fan but I'd have rather have seen him iron out his problems and become a consistently good player, instead of going on to prove my concerns. That's just like Modo territory, acting like it's a win win situation on a personal level, which appears to be the culture of many fans on here.

Judge me after Three years, and at the end of the Third year he managed Three wins in ten last games, ending up With the worst humiliation I have been through since I started supported the reds in the 70's. No fucking way he can be a success for us.

Here's some quotes from Rodgers

'There is absolutely no way a player will come in here if I don't want him,'

'I know the club will go and do the best it can to get the players we want.
'But it's very clear that anyone we sign will be because I want him here.'

So either he's telling the truth and he accepts responsibility or he's lying. I don't know which would be worse.

He also probably meant judge his three years, half of which consisted of title challenging form. Like I said, don't talk to me about perspective and three year tenures if you're going to select which bit reflect his reign.

I don't now mate, I really don't, there's clearly some politics going on over signings. I don't hear Henry & Co claiming he has full control and his selections in relation to players like Lambert, Mario and Markovic suggest he either wasn't fully onboard with signing them, or he's suddenly realised what most of us already had, they don't fit. I don't think it's as black and white as reading into everything that's said publicly, because if we had a committee he was struggling to work with, I'd imagine he would, on some contractual level, be censored from saying as much.

So what you basicly are saying that FSG saved his "reputation" by not selling Suarez to Arsenal two summers ago.

If you're going to start believing everything football people (not just Rodgers but anyone involved in football) say in the press then it's probably time to call it a day.

Face it Mark that the two last games individually is a reason for getting rid. They would be even if they happened With 3 Seasons between them.

Well thanks for compounding my argument. "Judge me after three years", like I said, for half of that we were in title winning form, but you want to judge him on two games alone, as you've just clearly said.
