What is Trent? The way he runs back you would think he was a #9. He did play in MF but what I remember he wasn't great. Maybe because he was played as a CDM, which involves defending and we know won't do that . May be his best role is a CM or RMF but our set up does not allow it.
There’s no position in modern football that allows for such little effort and care off the ball – it just shifts the problem elsewhere. If he stays, indulging him with a positional change isn’t the solution, no matter what nonsense ideas he might have about winning the Ballon d’Or. If those performances continue, he’d struggle to win a balloon, let alone anything else.

In my opinion, he's not a CM. Does not have the workrate, game intelligence or ability to play in tight spaces to play the CM role. Needs time on the ball.
His best position is probably right midfield in the old 4-4-2, where he can play like a lazy version of David Beckham.

In the modern game, I'd say with his one-way effort (going forward) he could probably play as a CF or RW, where he cheats and the rest of the team make up for his workrate. Almost like a Cristiano Ronaldo or Messi (in their older years; both worked hard in their prime).
You have to be at that level, to play in an attacking position without workrate and still make it at a top team.
Otherwise you have to work hard, or be playing that role at a lower division team.
Has Trent turned a corner? I did not watch the match but I've heard he covered every blade of grass. I sincerely hope so.. He so deserved the tongue lashing

He'll play a few good games, everyone adores him, ego builds, puts in a few stinkers, everyone gets annoyed, puts in a few good performances, everyone adores him etc

I think it was McNulty that said TAA was disappointing yet again - I didn't think so (bar shit corners - Tsimi seems to be our best corner taker) but then I didn't pay him much attention though my post match impression was he was good overall (maybe Konate added to that impression because there was little danger down that side with him covering). I'd need to rewind the match to see if I was under/over appreciating his involvement.

He was targeted in the United game, while Tsimikas was targeted in our last game, so I think it's pretty hard to make a judgement on his defensive improvement / effort on this one game alone.
Should also put to bed any notion that he didn't sub Trent off against United because of the contract situation. I don't think Arne has any fucks to give tbh.
