Part of me thinks that Nunez & Jones should start because they’ll be super hungry for redemption. But equally they can do that off the bench.

They can find redemption in church. Or altenatively, the Great Mosque of Mecca.

Nunez hasn't been any better though, and I'd back Jota ahead of any other LFC player to knock one in even if he's not in his best form - something I would mos def not say about Nunez.

Not even close to true. Nunez has 1 goal and two assists in 3 subs performances in the last 3 games (2 vs PSG).

I know it's pretty much de riquer for anyone and everyone to laugh/hate him on this forum but his form is clearly better than Jota's. That said I just don't know if I'd start him over Jota (or Diaz in the centre and I think Gakpo should now be ready to start LW) because he doesn't offer as much if we are dominating possession.

In the PL at home we had 62% possession and away we had 59%. On the large Wembley pitch I expect us to be well above that 62%.

It’s a conundrum, for sure…

Jota’s a decent enough history for us of deadly finishing when it matters BUT he’s woefully out of form and offering us nothing in all round play.

Nunez is streaky and unpredictable as fuck and somehow seems to have offered us moments of excellence and comical mistimings / ghostly presence in his last three appearances.

Diaz is in pretty good form BUT is much better on the left…but also seems to facilitate Mo’s form when starting through the middle.

The size of the pitch matters too, as in Jota’s current form I think he’ll look lost between spaces. You might argue it plays to Nunez’s strengths in that he a lot of space to run into (providing we go long regularly enough) and also Diaz’s relentless running power comes into play.

So it’s Nunez or Diaz through the middle for me, but Gakpo would need to be fit enough for a start (or we gamble on Ngumoha or something).

I’d start Diaz / Nunez / Salah and invite them to replicate something of the PSG rotations throughout the game…or at least ask Diaz and Nunez to rotate the left / centre positions.

I'd start Nunez too, just so Jota can come on against tired legs. He'll be more effective that way.

You could make a case for the reverse tbf. I don't want either to start but the alternative is Diaz through the middle and the thought of that just makes me want to kill someone

I think comes down to Darwin's attitude and reaction after the missed pen. So Jota starts I guess

Diaz through the middle and who on the left?

I'd love a nice relaxing easy win final; I think the last time we had one of those was against Sunderland in the FA Cup in the 90s. Every final since then has always been a nail biter right to the end

I'd probably start Nunez to do the donkey work and tire them out and keep Jota fresh for the last 30 so he can just focus on his finishing. There's no right or wrong choice, though. Neither look great.

If it were to be Diaz through the middle (I wouldn't do that personally, though I rate his "take one for the team" efforts in that role more highly than some) I'd start Nunez left side. He frequently drifted infield from there when he was playing well enough for us to sign him in the first place.

Arne Slot: "Maybe Curtis can play [right-back]. Trent is not available. He won't be there. He is still to be assessed, but we do expect him back before the season ends."

"Konate, yesterday was recovery, I expect him to train with us today."

In wouldn't mind starting Diaz in the middle. But Gakpo is no where near fit enough to start.

Does this suggest Slot didn't rate Quansah's performance at RB the other night? I didn't think he did too badly (Tuchel doesn't seem to think so either) and I'd certainly pick him ahead of Jones as a stand-in there.

It perhaps suggests he sees the role in the team as being more of the inverted full-back - I've noticed Bradley drifting into the middle sometimes when he plays, whereas Quansah was more orthodox in his positioning against PSG (and I agree that he did well, his best performance at right back for me). Personally I'd rather see Quansah than Jones there, but I've not managed a team to the brink of a Permier League title so I'll trust Arne's judgment.

I feel like all the transfer talk about Jota, Nunez, and Diaz being sold in the summer is not helping any of them.

We can give them as many starts as we can but if in their mind they have one foot out the door it'll show in the game

They can get over it and win a cup for us. Jesus. The big players have been dealing with the same controversy the entire season. The reason why jota isn't performing is because he takes a long time to get to a purple streak after injury and by his own admission is off form. The reason why nuñez isn't in form isn't required. The reason why diaz isn't in form is because its normal as well. None of these players have ever been great for a season.

We only need them to have a good game.

Look, we have come to this stage of the season where everything is looking like it's going to shit when it matters the most and we have the same usual suspects to thank for it. It's exactly the same situation we have last season. They can't blame us for having little faith in them.

Nunez, diabolical mostly and cannot be relied upon
Diaz, runs alot but delivers next to nothing
Jota, in between fitness, ALL THE TIME
Mo, misfiring except for pens

I have lost patience with the first two, losing my patience with the 3rd and the 4th looks like he is leaving regardless.

I think I am done, just get us the 2 trophies and F off. I look forward to an entirely different frontline next season.

I'm sure that's not the talk around the club though. The fans often have disparate views to the club as can be seen by the lack of activity (that fans expected) every Summer. I'm guessing Nunez knows he'll be off - I doubt the other two are and so it has zero impact on them.
