Pre Match Pre Match - Man City (A) - Sun 16:30

Come on its not that hard to guess, barring injury Slot never fails to play the same 7-8. Fatigue and form be damned. Ali, Virg, Ibou, Grav, Macca, Szob, Salah, Gakpo plus Extras No. 1, 2, 3 & 4.

I don't think that is correct at all. We have probably never been better in terms of our fitness team and keeping players fit. Its the usual suspects that keep getting injured but compared to other teams we look stronger in that department as the season have progressed. Slot and his team have done an excellent job.

A lot of chances doesn't equate to decent chances. The 2 decent chances we had (Nunez and szob) yeah, we should have scored, but neither of those players are clinical or confident. The other chances were half chances at best. Jota hitting the bar was a speculative low xg shot. Vvds effort was low xg. Most of them were

If your xg is 2.5 from 17 attempts, then that's poor quality chance creation.
Half chances are just that - sometimes they go in! They can't be dismissed out of hand. We had enough to win the game comfortably. Pity.

I'm guessing something like this:

Alisson
Trent Konate Virgil Robertson
Macca Gravy
Salah Szobo Gakpo
Diaz

Would start Jota but maybe better with 30 mins at the Ethiad against tired defenders and then a start against Newcastle. Tsimikas should start instead of Robbo. Although its like choosing between the plague and cholera with those two.

But that's my point; we didn't create nearly enough clear cut chances. Yea, half chances can be a goal, but ultimately our bread and butter should be creativity and it's something we sorely lack

DATA SAYS WE ARE DEAD FIT

Observing the teams does not equate to your statement

WE ARE DEAD FIT! EXCEL SAYS SO

City host Reds’ biggest game of the season

There’s a strong argument to be made that Manchester City’s 2-1 home win over Liverpool in January 2019 was the highest quality Premier League match of the past decade. Both sides are well off that level now and, while Arne Slot’s side are nevertheless in control of the title race, tension is intensifying. Liverpool followed defeat by Plymouth with last-second devastation at Everton, were then unimpressive in edging Wolves, and a draw at Villa offered Arsenal, their only semi-serious pursuers, further encouragement. That makes Sunday’s Etihad clash the most important game of the season so far: should Liverpool win, it will be hard to see them being caught, but should they falter, the sense that they are a decent team taking advantage of serendipitous lapses elsewhere will compound. The question, though, is whether City are able to locate their energy and rhythm after a chastening experience in Madrid; Pep Guardiola’s side might just be ideal opponents for a side low on confidence. From the Guardian’s 10 things blah blah blah

The thing about the villa game, which is crucial, is that we were gifted 2 goals. Brainfart for the first one and huge deflection for the second. We once again didn't test the keeper consistently (Nunez miss aside).

We're not creating decent chances. Our midfield is ideologically bereft. Trent is more focused on cross field passes than incisive ones. Robbo looks lost. Diaz isn't creative for anyone else. Salah is out of form but thankfully papering over the huge cracks in our play. Less said about our 9s the better.

Someone needs to step up and I genuinely don't know who it is going to be.
Jota's chance when through 1 on 1 was a glorious chance (about thirty seconds after their equaliser). Jota also had a completely open header in the box too. Nunez had two simply glorious chances, that would have resulted in a goal if any other forward in our roster had them- the miss after Bradley played Slobby through, and when he should have either got past Martinez or drawn the foul and a sending off. We created plenty enough to win that game.

and you missed Salah's header - which was as good an op as Jota's I thought.

Yes, 100%. And there were others. I thought we played very well, all in all, and showed great mentality to take it to a very strong (and reinforced) Villa side after falling behind to Villa's only two real chances in the first half.

I hear an echo somewhere.

I appreciate you're very numbers and figures, and I'm very much on the emotive and judging performances side. Feel free to check the spreadsheets and stats to see how to react to a different opinion to yours.

Ok, so we're back to being down as a very non clinical side.

So we're either not creating enough, or we're shite in front of goal.

I believe our big chances creation isn't as good as it should be, and I'm primarily focusing on the midfielders for that.

Equally, I've banged the drum for a long fucking time that we're not clinical enough; often to be told "but we're top scorers in the league".

If we need 10+ chances to convert one, we're not creating good chances and we're also not good at converting.

Our main issue is conceding goals.
We scored two against Villa which should be sufficient, the same against Everton.
It's more normal winning games by 2-0 or 2-1 than 3-2 imo.

Yep we are shipping far too many goals against poor teams for a title winning team atm.

I'm trying to find a spreadsheet / app that computes emotions, allowing me to calculate and then add these into the numbers and figures spreadsheet. Drawing a blank so far ! I could also use it for say Dreamy+Salah debates.
