Pre Match Pre Match - Man Utd (H) - Sun 16:30

If United play Casemiro & Eriksson in CM midfield again we genuinely will marmalade them. However, surely even Amorim isn't that daft.

I'd expect them to play

Butterfingers; Mazroui Maguire Martinez; Darlot Mainoo Erikson Diallo; Fenandez Garnacho; Hoijland

Which really is not a very scary team
Think Ugarte willl start instead of Eriksen.

You're missing a CB who I presume will be Yoro. Ugarte will start with Mainoo in the middle, I think. Back from suspension

There are three things I worry about with this one.
1. We don’t turn up. If we play anywhere near our normal level, we win this. Comfortably. Unless…
2. An early sending off. But even then we were excellent with 10 men agains a more than décent `Fulham side.
3. Injuries. United are bad losers, especially against us. It’s been mentioned elsewhere but there’s a good chance they try to kick the shit out of us if they go a few goals behind early doors. I still wonder to this day how many we’d have put past them at Old Trafford a few years ago before Pogba got sent off for a brutal tackle on Keita, after which we went easy on them - we were 5-0 up after 50 minutes and didn’t score another in 30 minutes against 10 men (although Klopp’s teams often struggled against 10). Job done from their perspective. They have form.

I'm not as confident as some. Mercenaries or not, they'll want to do well. They need to do well irrespective of the opposition. Yes, on paper, we should win but we've seen sluggish starts, a bit of complacency creeping in times... and Quansah has been poor this season.

Hopefully we turn up with the right attitude and the crowd is up for it.

Under Klopp we would keep going. We saw against Spurs and West Ham we take our foot off the gas and only put it back on when we need. One of the ways Slot is managing our levels better than Jürgen.

Our attitude needs to be on it.

good chastening points made in the other thread by @Dreambeliever and @rubans

the fa cup game against them last season started our decline and we play forest soon too, so poor results in both has arsenal all over us.

we’re losing this, red card for us and a scruffy bruno deflection

The first goal will be so key in this game. A Utd goal will boost them to no end and they might turn up for the entire game. If we score first I think this becomes a pretty smooth 90 mins.

As others have said. Need the right attitude and we need Anfield to be bouncing. I think both will be there, no doubt.

London Standard suggest:

butterfingers; De Ligt, Maguire, Yoro; Mazaroui, Ugarte, Mainoo, Dalot; Amad, Hojlund, Fernandes

So closer to your expectation @Modo with Yoro as one of the three (I'm not convinced by him) and Diallo playing up front rather than Wingback (which I think suits him better)

Dalot & Mazroui are NOT wingbacks!

Given how Slot is still mad at the result against Forest, I’m hoping he reminds the players just how underestimating an opponent can quickly unravel.

And we must stop wasting chances!
