Is TAA worth breaking the wage structure ?

sadly the little italy owner died about a year ago, he lived down the road from me. his kids are running the place though i think, never go into belfast anymore to confirm that.

greek pastry shops are my thing, the almond cookies get me moist just thinking about them (saliva)
Yes, I went in there over the summer when I was back home and I still recognised some of the staff so it must be his kids.

I seen the bad news on facebook, I remember one guy wrote that he used to go to Little Italy all the time when he was a student but hadn't been in about 20 years as he moved away after graduating. He walked in one night and Jack was there working away as usual, he glanced up from the pizza he was making and said "Hello Dermot, the usual?"

Now all I want is a large sicilian. The pizza, not a mobster.

I couldn't believe it when I came back to Liverpool, years after I moved away, and found Sayers gone. Greggs fills a gap, but its not the same
There’s a few still about. One on Stanley Road and one on Marsh Lane. I wouldn’t recommend going into Bootle at the best of times, never mind for a sausage roll.

Hang on, do you not live in Ireland? Surely you can get sausage rolls...

Yeah, but not in every bakery down the main street like at home. My first week here I went into a bakery in Ennis, asked for a sausage roll and they looked at me like I had 2 heads.

About every fifth bakery will have sausage rolls available; very rare to see a meat pastie. There are deli counters in Spar & the like, which will normally have sausage rolls and sometimes pies & pasties, but it's not the same

You can't move in Belfast without tripping over a sausage roll.

I might be exaggerating a bit there.

Haha my work base for 5 years. Good to get to the marina and down to the riverside. It may have changed.

yea he seemed like a bit of a rain man that way

i think it’s the only place i can never remember a fight breaking out at 2am at the weekend, everyone just wanted their pizza

My boss had dinner at arguably the best restaurant in Melbourne, dinner and drinks for 4.
$4,500. Madness.

I don’t care how good the food and drink is, that’s a sickening amount to spend on one meal for two parents and two kids.

My dad is from bootle. It sounds like it hasn't quite gentrified. I also can't hear the word bootle without thinking "where the bugs wear clogs."

It’s relative isn’t it - if he can afford it, why not.

I reckon I dropped close to $1k for the missus and me at a restaurant for my 50th.

My daughter runs her own business - a boutique service for booking luxury hotels (they get the hotel to go out of their way for really special stuff like playing 'their song' wedding music in the room when the guests check in for their wedding anniversary, flower petals all over the bed, gifts with their names on, spending vouchers for the restaurants, room upgrades without a hotel card etc. etc.).

Anyone with less than US$1,000 a night they just send to their booking portal ! Some spend US$10,000 a night and just want outstanding service. Bookings are booming ! You would be shocked at just how much money is out there and how many people have it. I am and continue to be when I hear the stories.

There's a resort near Athens called Lagonissi and the top prices there are something like 25k a night. I
know that includes a helicopter ride to the airport, it's about a 25 minute drive. I don't know much about helicopters but I know they're not that expensive to rent. So I don't know what to expect at those prices.

Whatever you can imagine - within reason !

I took the wife to L'Enclume for her birthday last year. Lovely little village in the lakes.

It is rated as the top restaurant in the UK. Meal for us, wine matching and a room for the night was about the same converted to £s.

Just visited the website. No prices published, but it did say it's all self catering apartments. I assume that means you have your own personal Michelin chef as well as the hookers

I love shit like that - every now and then you just got to just spend a bit and enjoy fine things.

Like the restaurant I went to for my 50th, I ordered an amazing marbled wage steak & added truffle shavings - fucking delicious - one of those places where they bring you a selection of steaks and you choose the one you want - so the steak was $200+ on its own.

Work chipped in with a $150 voucher, so that went on a bottle of wine (Syrah from Waiheke Island, NZ - one I’d had before, but this one didn’t quite live up to expectation).

As I get older, I’m more inclined to pay for quality produce - fortunately live on the outskirts of Melbourne, so farmers markets are a thing - I buy most of my meat from there - the difference in quality to supermarkets is pronounced.

There’s a butcher I go to when I get the chance that does amazing cuts of steak - I normally end up drooping a small fortune on Black Opal Wagu Scotch filllets which are delicious…. But not fucking cheap - it’s important I get rid of the receipt and never discuss the price with the missus… she still prefers the “I got this on quick sale going out of date from the supermarket” crap (which can be ok from time to time, to be fair).

I bet you 80% of that $4500 is the drinks. At the end of the day, the only reason a bottles of wine trade for thousands is because there is a market out there.

Yeah, the website only shows the "cheaper" options.

One review page said the top villa comes with a chef, pianist and another member of staff, and a personal trainer.

At 25k I wouldn't bother with the pianist and a personal trainer. It would be topless waitress and some sexy masseuse for a happy ending.

Problem I've got is that we ordered an Indian the other day. Unfortunately because it's online and there's all this choice I ordered enough for about eight people and ate enough for two, and my missus is asking can we bin this now, and I'm thinking no I'll probs want that on maybe Tuesday.

I’m guilty of doing that myself. I am a right dirt bag and will lash all the leftovers in a wok to heat up the rice and various curries. Make a super curry.

it was Attica but still. Fucking obscene imo.

$500 pp with drinks is somewhat understandable but more than double is nuts.
