One To Watch: Viktor Fischer

Now that it's been confirmed we've watched a lot of Ajax this Season it makes it even more inevitable that Viktor Fischer must've raised a few eye-brows as well.

This young lad oozes class and having endured a goal-less run of late today he made amends scoring first and third (with Eriksen assisting that goal btw) in Ajax's 4-1 win over NEC. The second underlining what massive self-belief and technique he's already got.

Can play everywhere across the front positions in a 4-3-3 but is so far mostly utilized on the left, a position we ourselves seems well-covered for with Coutinho mind.

Fischer reminds me more of Suarez though, not quite as good a dribbler but certainly more of a goal-scorer. Got the same razor-sharp, quick-thinking moves, and the audacity to take on any defender. I know I am Danish and as such wants him (and Eriksen) to do well but these players are rare talents in their own ways.

Fischer, should he continue his progress - having now scored 10 goals in his first 19 league games ever - could become more expensive than Eriksen. And therein perhaps lies our main concern should we want to secure his services.

A friend of mine is an agent and he told me that he was gonna meet up with Mads Jorgensen to discuss potential players.
He asked me if I knew anything about him and what players he's scouted for us.
I told my friend to tell him that he's fucking useless and deserves to be sacked for missing both Fischer and Eriksen.

Is

-----------------Pepe----------------
Johnson--Dede-Agger-Enrique
-------------Alonso-Gerrard-------
------------------Eriksen------------
--Fischer----Suarez---Coutinho

To much to ask for next season?

Haha.....

Of course not.

It's a difficult balance however because from the young attacking-minded players point of view I believe you can't chose a better club than Ajax to be schooled in.

It's quite obvious there's a longer way from the young players in Liverpool to the first team than compared to those at Ajax. Of course he would've played now and then, but he's now already a regular starter with Ajax week in week out and you simply can't teach that kind of experience at any reserve team in the world. On the other hand he would've perhaps made the step up to the Premiership faster than most seeing how he's started his career in Holland.

However the more defensive minded talents that has moved directly from Denmark to major European clubs are the ones we've perhaps missed out on.

Pierre Emile Højbjerg (former Brøndby), Bayern Münich, has despite being only 17 already made it to their starstutted bench in several Bundesliga games. A central midfielder with great vision, energy, creativity and strength. Talent-wise in the same bracket as Fischer.

Anders Christensen (former Brøndby), Chelsea, is a vital part of Chelsea's Next Gen team that has made this years finals. A strong, powerful, technical (uh-oh) central defender.

Patrick Olsen (former Brøndby), Inter, playing regularly for Inter's U23 side and is being tipped to make his debut next Season. Alonso-like long passes, grit and loads of ability. DM/CM.

Jakob Barrett Laursen (former AaB), Juventus, left footed attacking full-back. Certainly a player with attributes taylor made for England. Described as a fast, strong, technical skilled player that's got loads of stamina. As in, he can bomb up and down that line for 90 min+.

Christian Nørgaard (former Lyngby), Hamburger SV. A very smart CM/AM that's not small in stature either. A few years from now if he can build on what he's already got in his locker (as in become a bit more physical in his play) he could end up at the highest level. Lovely, skillful player to watch in action.

The thing is these players has moved for no more than £1M tops. Emile Højbjerg moved on a free to Bayern.

I agree Ajax are probably one of the best teams in the world with regards to developing players. Their list of graduates is amazing to say the least.

However I do wonder what Jorgensen is doing?

Especially as he was a Brøndby player himself at some stage.

Anyways we've now got a lot of British top talents in the Youth setup it seems which seems a massive improvement on earlier years. Should be exactly how we build imo and then add only the best available foreign youngsters to the crop. 60/40 or something.

We've simply seen to many not good enough talents from places like Hungary, Denmark, Holland, Sweden, Germany, Spain, Argentina in recent years. Well, and from England too, of course.

Pound for pound I'd say that the Spanish youth players we've signed have proven to be the best so far.
I'm not only thinking of Suso but Pacheco, San Jose, Miki Roque, Barragan.

Barragan is playing for Valencia

San Jose is starting for Bilbao.

Roque (RIP) was playing for Betis.

That's not too bad I guess. Apart from Suso they've all looked somewhat short of Liverpool-class though.

Whenever I read your posts KHL i cant understand how your country isn't the best in the world.

I am truely baffled myself, yes. I blame Howard Webb.

Anyways there's a lot of hype these days and articles describing what players will win us the EC in 2020 and perhaps the WC in 2018. It's all a bit crazy but with a pinch of irony.

As a people us Danes are often getting carried away by a few positives thinking we can beat anyone. Little country syndrome perhaps.

Guess that's why we once tried to concour England despite being heavily outnumbered and probably drunk too.

We tried that with the world, did a pretty good job to be fair.

Remember Simon Kjaer?

He was "one to watch" once.

Aye.
Haha yeah he was, then he got sold on from Italy for £10M and then had two mostly awful Seasons in Germany. I will get someone wrong now and then that's inevitable and Kjær could very much be one of those.

Having said that he has improved of late however with Wolfsburg and being only 24 leaves time for him time to get back on track, especially as a CD. A bit early to call him out as a mistake but I admit he's not improved as I would've believed so the jury's is still very much out.

Saric has probably got to be the biggest let down for me mind, as he really looked a potential star the few times I had watched him, but that never showed more than in glimpses for us. A rather cheap player for us, so not much harm done I guess.

@Dmish
I've not once championed Poulsen as one we should sign or even be looking at. You know that don't you? I stood up for him when we signed him, hoped he could find his form from yesteryear with Schalke and Sevilla, but he's not ever been a player I've thought we should be in for.

I actually don't think Kjaer is that bad, certainly not the Danish wonderboy promised, but he's still good, i'd happily take him as a 3rd choice centre back.

Now that we are buying Eriksen (fingers crossed) we'd be absolutely well stupid not to buy his younger team mate too while we're at it (fingers even more crossed).

Yeah, they'll cost us around £40M combined, but who cares, two of the best attacking minded young players around.

Fischer's first Season with Ajax in motion for your viewing pleasure - this kid is phenomenal:

Goal of the Season for Ajax voted by the fans in a choice between goals from Fischer, Eriksen, De Jong and Lucas Andersen (the one we've been linked with several times) at Reserve level.

That was voted Goal of the Season? Ajax must not have scored many goals this season.

Bergkamp is one of the attacking coaches in Ajax, certainly not the worst to learn from.

Agree with the Fowler comparison when it comes to finishing. Only few are so calm and clinical in front of goal as he was mind so still some way to go. Potential is there mind.
