Both fair points. But financial clout sure doesn't hurt, does it..?

He's never had to do what our Jurgen did, or other true greats have... He's ALWAYS had the world's best team handed to him, consisting of the world's best players, all over the pitch. That's all I'm saying.

I honestly believe that if Jurgen and he had swapped places 10 years back, we'd have one less title and one less European Cup that we do now, and they'd be chasing their 8th straight title and they've have at least two more European Cups.
Don't get me wrong what Jürgen did was incredible. We can again look at Man U and their failure despite having more money.

Let's see where City end up at the season close before judging how Pep has done. They're only a handful of points off where they were last season. Although it doesn't look likely at the moment, they could turn it on and rip through the second half of the season.

Still a mangy dogfucker though either way.

Yes, of course tales of their demise are greatly premature, but even if they do recover and end the year strong again, it won't make him a better coach, in my mind - It's because they don't really have a problem... They're missing ONE player of any import.

It's tough to compare. He's solving a different problem than many other managers.

Would I back him in a relegation fight? Probably not. But tbf there have been a lot of managers who have managed ultra rich clubs. Few if any have delivered the results he has, along with his overall influence on the style of play used across many leagues and countries.

He's a bitter, insular wanker. But he's delivered success within the specific context he's operated: taking top clubs and making them nearly untouchable.
