Why was Brendan in the Etihad?

------------------Mignolet-------------------
-------Toure-----Skrtel-----Sakho--------
Kelly----------Henderson-------Enrique
-----------Gerrard----Suarez-------------
--Sterling-------Sturridge------Moses--

I'd like to see Rodgers play Aspas in this game to try and get his form and confidence going. It'd be nice to see him reproduce his pre-season form in the league so we can have a useful stand-in when Suarez is inevitably suspended again.

If we had gained more points against Swansea and Southampton, I'd definitely start Aspas upfront with one of Suarez and Sturridge. But needs must, and securing 3 points is more valuable then bedding him in at this stage.

Looks amazing, I hope we get away with it. If not I would remove Sterling and move up Suarez

Stevie joined Brendan in Bayern scouting

4th Oct 2013 - Latest New
As reigning European champions Bayern Munich dismantled Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday evening, both the Liverpool boss and skipper were in attendance on a scouting mission.

The German side, now coached by Pep Guardiola, served notice of their intention to retain the Champions League crown - which the Reds lifted in 2005 - with a handsome 3-1 victory over City.
Brendan Rodgers was joined by Steven Gerrard and a number of his players to watch the action up close, and the Northern Irishman returned to Merseyside with a healthy amount of inspiration.
"Steven Gerrard was at the game with me, and one or two other players as well," Rodgers revealed.
"For anyone in football, if you have a love for the game, it's interesting watching two top teams come together.
"That was as good as it gets; you would do well to see another performance like that one anywhere in Europe. You have to learn from that.
"You look at that level and, for me, it's important because Liverpool want to return to that level. You have to keep one eye on the future and if you look at that you see the quality required.
"There's an awful lot of work to do, but watching that game was a real motivation. That's where every coach, every manager and every player wants to operate.
"You want to compete at that level and be judged at that level. Obviously this club was doing that for a lot of years."

Yep, that would be my team aswell

I'd go with that but wouldn't be too upset to see Alberto given the slot over Moses.

Moses will almost certainly score against his old club, the lucky fucker as if it weren't for this fixture and his forthcoming goal I think he'd have been out of the team for the following game.

Watching the Sunderland game I wasn't convinced by Moses, but the MOTD highlights made it look like he had a better game than I remembered. He was actually quite dangerous, and turned a 2 striker attack into a 3 striker attack at times.

This is the team apparantly:

@Jay82_LFC: So it looks like #LFC - Mignolet - Sakho, Skrtel, Toure - Enrique, Gerrard, Hendo, Sterling - Moses - Sturridge & Suarez

Sterling at RWB

So sterling found a way into the team, another lucky fucker who would otherwise have no position left. I'm sure he will play superbly and see out the season as first choice right wing back with johnson fucked to the other wing.

So the team I posted as per bib theory yesterday.
This Jay82 must really know his stuff

look , i never expect it to be easy but these lads are newly promoted and have lost 5 of their first 6 games . So regardless of players we're missing , regardless of our shite midfield , regardless of Rodgers saying we have to be patient , if we have anything about us then we have to win this and i don't think it's too much to ask for us to play some decent stuff also while doing so.

How does this guy know Sterling will play at RWB? Methinks it's a tad more likely that we will line up as 4-4-2 (or you can call it 4-2-3-1 - there is almost no difference at this point) with Toure at RB and Sterling at RW. Lots of "grit and steel" in this lineup.
