How will we set up against Palace ?

I would try Moses on the right with Henderson partnering Gerrard in the centre. I would start Luis Alberto too to see how he copes.

Will he stick with 3 at the back? We now have 4 CBs to for either 2 or 3 positions. After the lumbering nature of playing them all in a back 4 against Soton I think he'll stick with the 3. Sadly we have no one to play the Lucas role because we did not buy a decent midfielder when we should have. Alberto in middle with Gerrard?
Palace are gash, we should shit them whoever plays. Should being the operative word.

Is no one else bothered that our "only" proper DM has accumulated 5 bookings already?

We've only played 7 games FFS.

Anyway, I don't mind 3 at the back as long as they don't fanny about with the back passing shite. So

Ming

Toure Skrtel Sakho
Kelly Enrique
Henderson Gerrard
Suarez
Sturridge Ibe

Gives Hendo a chance in his preferred position. Also gives Ibe a chance over Sterling too. I'd be happy with that.

Kelly, Allen, Coutinho, Johnson, Cisshoko - not fit and Lucas banned.

Sterling had a bash at RWB towards the end of the game, maybe even with the fact he might have to play there in BRs mind.

Fuck no.

He's an 18 year old lad with great talent, but he's extremely rare, hit & miss at times, & hasn't even found his best position in an attacking sense yet.

There's no way playing him as a wing back is gonna help him or the team imo.

I wouldn't personally put him there but I think having seen him put there yesterday that Rodgers would have that in the back of his mind. I'd like to see Kelly slot back in there. I wouldn't want to alter the back 3 who are probably still learning to communicate/ position together. Hendo for Lucas and a natural RB are the only changes I'd want to see.

Sterling has played there 3 times there that I've seen him (including U21s) and has been surprisingly good. If we're going to experiment with this, Palace at home would be the game to try it. Then again, Pa;ace at home might also be the game to give Mclaughlin a whirl.

I agree, he's looked alright there before. It's worth a go.

Grit and Steel.

Harsh on Enrique, but it seems like Cissokho is made for this formation.

I would love for this to happen.

Sterling / Ibe are not wingbacks.

Kelly is far more suited to come in on the right and a good game for him to come in and get some fitness back.

Kelly's shit though - and nowhere near as good as Johnson.

Without wishing to be too disrespectful, it's Crystal Palace and we're at home.

---------------- Mignolet
Toure --- Skrtel -- Sakho --- Enrique
-------- Gerrard -- Henderson
Moses ------- Suarez -------- Sterling
---------------- Sturridge

Let's go out with the intention of battering them.

The last time we played an Ian Holloway team at Anfield we lost 1-2.
The way we have been playing this season I am not sure I expect to batter any team.
Though having Suarez back may just be the extra bit we need to do just that.

Me neither, but I reckon we're more likely to batter a team if we actually set out to do so instead of lining up with what is essentially six defenders and sitting back for large parts of the game.

With that eleven, we should be disrespecting Crystal Palace with the scoreline.

Johnson is injured and Kelly is not shit.

Kelly is still better at defending than Johnson and in that formation is better suited than Ibe and Sterling.

Whilst I think Sterling actually has potential as a utility FB (I don't think anyone has suggested Ibe play in that position), I agree that this formation demands quite a bit more of the WB, and Kelly or Wisdom would both be preferable. McLaughlin should really be looked at in this position too perhaps.

I can see rodgers trying to squeeze in all 4 CB's again as he doesn't know who to drop.
