He has divided the site since the first moment he was mooted as a signing hasnt he.... if he plays out the next two years of his contract as a decent wide player, however dull, then im OK with that... personally i still wish we'd spent the money on something better tho.

Forgive me for stopping right there Molby, thanks for the thinly veiled attempts at trying to have an ounce more humility than Modo, it nearly worked for about half a second.

When did I 'herald his arrival'? I said we overpaid but that he could be a good addition, you and Modo seem to have been on a crucade since day one, rewiting what people have said, I don't remember many people saying it was a good move for the price. I could see why Kenny might have been interested in buying him but I was NEVER happy about the price.

So quit with the "I was so supremely right while everyone else thought it was a brilliant financially sound move".

I can't remember ever being in a love in with Modo tbh, there was a number of us in the anti Downing brigade but we were outnumbered and outshouted by a posse of pro Downing posters trying so hard to convince everyone it was a good signing just as they are still trying to do so now and you were definitely one of the posters arguing for so come on don't come over all innocent as though only the posters who didn't want him were arguing forcibly.

If having an agenda is having a strongly held opinion then we are as guilty as each other and perhaps out of respect shouldn't be throwing the word around.

I do not mention Downing in every post nor every thread a la Modo but that doesn't mean I'm not going to post in a silly thread like this.

Here is what I will do, I will pay more attention to yon Stewart Downing and give him a fairer crack off the whip mentally. I am quite happy for him to start earning his place and the sums of money the club has spent on him, truly I am.

I still genuinely don't see it though even after his most recent spell, not because of spite or desire to be right but out of the fact that "quietly fantastic" makes no fucking sense to me whatsoever.

I'm personally not interested in attacking any Liverpool player in situ, even in the infamous Downing arrival thread at the end after defeat I wished him well, you can do your research and find it if you want, I still have not seen enough good consistent play from Downing in a red shirt and I think a large proportion of us would agree. He is here now and he has my support.

As for Modo and his multi thread campaign well.... he can look after himself.
