Anybody watched Swansea the last few games since this guy came to them on loan?

Looks like one hell of a player. Always wants the ball, passes it then moves, eye for a killer pass, great set pieces, great movement, so much energy. Just looks fantastic in my opinion.

Exactly the opposite of what our midfield are like in a lot of games.

Only 22 years old, was player of the season at Hoffenheim last year, and Reading the year before. Not quite sure why Hoffenheim loaned him out mid way through this season though.

Probably cost £8/9 million I reckon. Want to watch some more of him but couldn't be more impressed so far

I can't be arsed trawling back through last years posts but last season I suggested the 3 best midfielders in the Championship were Sigurdsson, Howson and Pratley and all 3 are now plying their trade in the EPL.

I predicted he'd be snapped up by an EPL team but was amazed when Hoffenheim came in with a £6m offer. Fair play to their scouting system. I am equally surprised that he's been allowed out on loan. Everytime I've seen him play he's been superb and he has taken to the EPL like a duck to water (I put him straight in my fantasy football team and he got me loads of points - apart from this week because typically I had him as captain).

I would love us to sign him.

Fair play Pesam, I know you have a great knowledge of the football league.

How is Pratley getting on at Bolton? I was watching out for him at start of season due to you mentioning him but he wasn't getting any gametime back then even after a very good preseason. Tried to stop watching Bolton a while back because their defending was so bad they were making me want to tear my eyes out. I know he didn't play in their tearing us a new one either

Hi AC, Pratley's not getting a regular start for Bolton this season which is ridiculous because he's significantly better than Reo Coker. It was the same with Mark Davies, I always thought he should be a regular for Bolton and now he's finally been given his chance and proving his worth. I reckon if Pratley is given 3 or 4 consecutive starts he'll cement his place.

I like Owen Coyle but managers are like players and can have an off-season and I think Coyle is having a mare. They have a good enough squad that they really shouldn't be in the bottom 3 and this stage.

So is Sigurdsson Jonjo Shelvey being given a chance at a lower/mid level team?

Eh?
[/quote]I mean would Jonjo be close to or as good as Sigurdsson, if he was getting the experience of playing regular premiership football with a mid table team.

Sigurdsson was far more impressive than Jonjo in The Championship BUT Jonjo was 17 at the time and Sigurdsson was 20. Jonjo then had a poor season when he was 18 in the 1st division, which can easily enough be explained away as young players regularly have a poor 2nd season. The problem with Jonjo is that it's difficult to know if he'll ever make the grade while he's not getting a regular game. We should have left him at Blackpool for the whole season, it would have been better for his development.

My gut feeling is that Sigurdsson will prove to be a top player at a top team whereas Jonjo will have a decent career at a mid-table team.

It does seem to have been rather hasty to have brought Jonjo back from Blackpool where he seemed to be really blossoming and a season there would have been good preparation on an assault on a regular place in our team.
I just think there is something about him and he has the potential to be a top player but his development is being severely hampered by having to make do with the occasional game for us, either with the first team or reserves.
He still has time on his side but it is starting to run out.

HOFFENHEIM manager Markus Babbel wants Gylfi Sigurdsson to return to the Bundesliga club when his Swansea City loan spell ends next month.

Sigurdsson has scored six goals since joining the Swans in January, and he was named the Premier League player of the month for March.

"Gylfi is under contract at this club for next season. He will come back and train with us," said former Liverpool star Babbel.

"I am keen to get to know him, and that is why I want him back."

Since Amber Cats started this thread I've been watching him every chance I get .... he looks a very very good player and I'd definitely not say no to him.

I like him, he's a decent player. I think Howson and Pratley have struggled at this level though

In defence of Howson, he only signed for Norwich in January and was injured in February so he's only played in 4 games in the EPL.

Pratley needs to be given a regular starting berth before he'll show his true worth. He gets picked sporadicallly and given different roles each time.
