I wonder if Rodgers took/still takes the view put forward by quite a few posters on here, namely that a DM as such shouldn't be necessary if you have good midfielders who are mobile and skilful enough to do a bit of everything. When the subject's come up on here, my take on it has been - and it remains - that that's OK in principle but, in the modern game, not many teams will have enough top midfield quality to make it work in practice.
Yet you support a manager who spent over £100 mill in one summer and hasn't improved us one bit?
Also, if I remember it correctly, you supported the manager who bought Carroll and Downing for how much again £55 million?

Short of getting Ronaldo or Messi we weren't going to get any player to replace Suarez - even they'd have been up against it. But we've got better players at the club this season than last season.

It didn't improve us.
It made us stronger in some positions, but weaker overall.
I'm hoping we'll be stronger when players like Markovic settle fully, but there's no doubt that we're a lesser team than last year.

That again raises the question of whose choice Balotelli was, and I'd lay heavy odds it wasn't Rodgers, given that he'd told the press Balotelli would not play for LFC less than a week before we bought him. Lambert was clearly intended as a third or fourth choice only, so isn't really relevant to this point.

He won't be at Napoli next year it seems regardless ... Marcotti says ambition but he's wasted a shit load of money and taken the team nowhere (and supposedly his best striker wants out). He'll managed Atleti next season once Simeone moves to Arsenal! 😉

The league table does not lie.. we are no way improved team at all over last season.. and saying we have better players at the club than last season is seriously open for debate.. Moreno, other than the goal seems not much better than Aly Cissokho, Mingolet has declined, we let Agger go for Lovren.. Balotelli in for the departed Suarez.. Lambert for Aspas (not much differance imho).. Skrtel & Gerrard have declined further.. Johnson is shocking and looks even more like he cannot be arsed.. Manquillio although I rate, is not better than Flannagan.. Allen shouldn't even be at the club..
The 100m spent has made us a much worse team.. No Balance, no structure and no rhythm and we are now playing a 'botched' formation to address the holes the new signings have created..
The only shining light from the new signings is Lallana, and the sudden rise of Markovic..
Their is no denying we did a spurs with the transfers, we tried to add squad players without signing players that could walk into the first team..
You're terrible at this - remind me how much he spent the year after we finished 2nd ... Aquilani ... Keane ... Dossena etc ... He just couldn't get us over the hump ... You should ask yourself if Rafa could have rebuilt Liverpool had he sold Gerrard after 2005 like Rodgers is attempting to do after selling the best player in the league.

Essentially both managers have spent roughly what they've made in most windows plus about 20m(was less, getting more and more) at the most. It's never varied too much from that. We've never had a huge amount to go and improve the team, we've just rejigged it based on who we can get rid of or who wants to leave.
We're not even there yet! Give Rodgers some time will ya?

We've created over 40 chances in two games with this 'botched' formation.
What's your logic for this?
You should type quicker.
Look.. this formation has only come about as a last roll of the dice.. we failed to win two of the games.. so other than the '40 chances' nothing great has improved on the results side of things.. Although I can bare to watch us now..
It is evident we miss a natural goal scorer.. that could of made the differance, I agree. But the age old issue still needs addressing, the defence..
We could go into the next game create a stupid amount of chances, but lose.. thats how it is.. No improvement overall..
You dont get points on the board for outplaying the opposition..
