That's not true. They had as many chances as we did to score, actually did score, and also battered us in the first leg

I wouldn't disagree that Southampton took their opportunity.
However I'm interested in Liverpool and we did not score when we should have done.
I'm not going fall out with anyone over it.
We looked shite and well beaten to me.
You saw it a different way, fair enough.
End result we are out of a cup we should still be in which is hard to stomach.

It doesn't matter how any team sets up to play us, we almost always concede anyway

Football isn't just about creating and taking goal scoring oppurtunities it's also about preventing them and we're abysmal at it in both legs.

With that set up of course they will but you would hope we would create a hell of lot more than them and in the first half they had more chances with a quarter of the ball.
We should have been 2-0 at ht and couldn't have complained about it

We conceded 2 goals over two games. Hardly a crisis. Creating and taking opportunities was very much the problem.
It would have been something like 3-3 if every chance were taken though. You said we were well beaten tonight. We weren't. It was fairly even.
Over both legs, you could be right as I didn't see the first match.

Maybe so and perhaps I'm influenced by the first leg where we were absolutely battered off the park so much so Klopp said the only good thing is it's only 1-0.
Maybe I expected a response from the first leg, from the Swansea game, the fact we got out of jail only losing 1-0 and still had a chance to go to Wembley.
The first half was largely Southampton, yes we improved in the 2nd half but over the 180 mins we were the better side in 45.
That's unacceptable against a side who have been rubbish more often than not this season as their league position shows
I can't complain about the endeavour and urgency our team showed tonight. There were passages of good play and we dominated the ball but ultimately not enough quality when it mattered.
In other news I won £574 quid. That probably doesn't help anyones mood but it certainly helps mine. Besides it's only the Carling Cup or whatevers. Not that arsed. 🙂

Well Said. Only way to better end result is to work even harder. I think some of the attack tonight showed that we are moving in right direction. Other parts we had too many touches on the ball and slowed it down for ourselves. If we manage to play more on one to two touches we will have a wonderful spring🙂
Our season probably rests on the next two games - sad.
