Liverpool v Southampton League Cup Semi Final Second Leg Match Thread

It was sad watching what the injuries had done to Sturridge tonight. He was a such fantastic footballer.

Quietly impressed by Southampton.

They keep selling their best players yet they are not far off from the best teams. We are the ones buying their best players and we can't even seem to beat the ones we don't buy from them.

Loudly frustrated with us. So many questionmarks still. Too many players not really top class. Dammit.
They wanted it more than us and we've been found out. Just sit back and hit us on the counter.
I'm starting to believe that we need a better player upfront, fuck me we can't get anything from our crosses and corners.

There was apparently no striker in the world that could improve us
Of course not, sure if I say it it must be wrong eh?

Best attack in the country my arse.

It only works if everyone is on fire and if nobody is away or injured.

We literally have zero back up for any of the front 6 that are good enough.

As soon as you loss one we fall over

We've always found it hard to break down teams which sit back and hit us on the counter, even when we had Gerrard and Torres in their pomp.

We made clear cut chances tonight but didn't take them.

In the real world we were one nil down before tonight's game started and we had enough opportunities to win.

I didn't say we didn't but Southampton had the better chances in both legs and tonight they would have been raging not to be 2-0 up at half time. The fact they missed them doesn't mean we should be happy. They shouldn't have had those many chances to begin with.
Redmond made us look like a pub team.

We were by far the worse side over the two legs and in each 90.

That's the most worrying thing, we weren't unlucky we were well well beaten in both legs by a side sitting way down the table.

We were shit. End of. We haven't got a clue what to do when teams sit deep and the play was pedestrian.

I like Can but he's got the turning circle of a fully laden skip. I'd have started Wijnaldum instead.

Alexander-Arnold showed some decent things going forward but was very naieve at times in defence but it wasn't the defence that lost us it.

Who doesn't struggle against teams with two so low row of defence?

Dont just stop with strikers. It would appear there are NO players in the world that can improve us other than those that Klopp wants and those are the ones he cannot get this Jan. Go figure we are so ace.

Seriously you thought we could win this ? They look fucked and are fucked and predictable and stale. Tonights result was really the only one on the cards.
