Pre Match Pre Match - Spurs (H) - Coca Cola Cup Semi - Thursday 20:00

So we couldn't beat them when they had shite at the back and up front; now they've got new CBS and a new striker.

This will be interesting

Not hugely relevant to this thread but i really want Arsenal to get to the final so we can beat them at Wembley.
Honestly I'd rather not give that shower motivation. A Newcastle humbling for them pls

Nah. We were in our mid season rut. Now we are gonna be purring like an all conquering Red Bull with a Dutch legend behind the wheel.

Slots Quad Squad.

Good, Bradley for the Semi, Trent can captain the kids in the FA Cup and then Bradley can get sent off against Everton.

Sore back for the next 5 months.
What is Slot seeing that we aren't?

I rarely (almost never) use Steve Nicol as a reference but this is what he had to say about Trent's performance:

“I keep looking at Alexander-Arnold, and honestly, today – that whole propaganda that we were listening to at the start of the season about how his defending is better.

“That’s all it was, propaganda. Again today, he was absolutely woeful. He was so bad and actually I think he would have been taken off had he not picked up a knock, he was that bad defensively.”

So evidently even former professional footballers are seeing what we're seeing.
We have a right back on the pitch who can't be arsed defending.

OK, let's say he's a midfielder now, does that exempts him from defending?

I just understand what the play is here?

If his superb passing ability doesn't get us anything during the game, whats the point in having him on the pitch?
We can't have 2 players (Gravy, Konate) covering for him all the time.

I used to use Alves as an example. Alves effectively played as a RW for a lot of the game at Barca and as a result the midfield ended up covering for him a lot but obviously it was worth it. Alves was terrier like in his mentality though - if he could get back, he would.

If TAA was more like Alves earlier in his career, he's now more like a latter day Beckham now - a wannabe Xabi Alonso. Funnily enough, Real stuck him at RB at times too.

He sees a 50m asset walking away for nothing and it sounds like he’s a good trainer.

I still think that it's all contract related. Despite some here saying 'Slot wouldn't do that' I think he absolutely is doing that. Not rocking the boat with a local lad superstar. At least Trent occasionally offers a bit of magic that can be used as justification for playing him. Hope Bradley or Gomez starts vs Everton though.

Which likely means he's still undecided on going/staying. If he signs then we can get a fee when he leaves due to lack of playing time in 12 months.

Aye will be great to have Gomez coming back. Plugs so many gaps if needs be.

Arne Slot ahead of the second leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final against Tottenham.⤵️

🗣Slot on overturning first-leg deficit: "I don't think I have to prepare them differently to any other game. As long as Liverpool exists, you need to win the game. Even if we're 1-0 down we try to win. If you wear this shirt, if you play at Anfield, there's only one thing expected of you - to win."

🗣️ Slot on month-long gap since 1st leg: "This is unusual. If you play a week later it's normally the same team again you are facing. They brought in three players so now we face two different ones. Van de Ven could play, which might change quality we face. It'll be difficult."

🗣️ Slot on VAR announcements in Carabao Cup: "It's not neccessary but let's see if the fans like it. I was there in Spurs' stadium, it was so obvious it wasn't needed to announce it was offside. I was more interested in why he didn't give a second yellow [for Bergvall]."

🗣️ Slot on transfer window: "There aren't many managers with as good as squad as I have. The players have shown the trust we have in them was correct. We don't many injuries, long-term injuries, so there's no reason to add to the team unless there's a chance in the market."

🗣️ Slot on the role of a Liverpool centre-forward: "You want attackers and midfielders to score. We need to get goals from many positions, including centre-backs who can score from set-pieces as well. The No.9 should be a facilitator and also score goals."

🗣️ Slot on matchday squad sizes: "One of the only things I don't understand here, everywhere around the world and Europe, we can take 23 players to the game, We play so many games here, so if you are able to you need a big squad, that seems fair. I don't know why we don't have 23 for the games."

🗣️ Slot on Conor Bradley's performance in defeat to PSV: "He wasn't involved in every goal [PSV scored] but he was in one, in my opinion. He wasn't aggressive enough which led to the third goal."

🗣️ Slot on whether Alisson or Kelleher will start tomorrow: "I know [my decision] but the goalkeepers don't know yet. I will tell them after this [press conference]."

I don't want him to start. I want him to score.

Ideally in the 94th minute when we're 1-0 up...

Interesting comments and especially on Bradley, constructive and straight to the point.

I want spurs gaped. I want every team from now until June to be gaped by us.
