It's not what I've seen this season, it's the player he is, he hasn't suddenly become shit, he's always been an engima, the difference this season is that instead of defending the negatives, we are starting to turn on him because of the speculation, we've become the England fans we used to love to hate.
He's clearly unsettled by it all, he doesn't have the same mental fortitude of Virgil or Salah, not many do, and then when you add into the mix it's his home club, and the people he's grown up around have started to turn on him, can you be that surprised?
What's still beyond doubt in my mind however, is that he's one of the most talent right backs I've ever seen, even when he's not bombing forward like the old days, he brings a composure, and creativity to the role that we will never replace.
Will the team become more balanced without him? Probably. Will we miss him and lose something distinctly unique and brilliant when he's gone? Absolutely.
