Ok, Diaz scored and should have had a couple of assists (1 of which mo should have scored). So what? I'm digging mo out because unlike Diaz, he barely fucking moved.
He's been fucking shite for a while and I'm sick of it. He's not in the team based on form or effort. He's in the team based on salary and events from last calendar year

The defence is it's own separate beast that deserves raking over the coals. But that's (mostly) and aberration of a performance (though I have my concerns over vvd, and Robbo we're actively looking to replace).
Our system doesn't allow our midfield to create. Our forwards are either so fatigued or so not arsed that they're not making runs.
Our system relies on 1 person to turn up. We are a 1 man team. If he doesn't turn up (which he hasn't for a fucking while), then we may as well play a low fucking block.
He's just shit because he falls of a cliff every season once his body can't handle the minutes played.
Its been this way for years. It happened later this year because we had no afcon and we had a much better Christmas schedule. That's it.
He needs to have his minutes managed, and he shouldn't be immune from substitution.

Thing is…the 433 is heavily slanted to accommodate him as a unicorn…massively skewing our play and adding hugely to the workload of Szobo, Grav and whoever our right back is on the day…moreover the left side - and I feel sorry for Diaz - is expected to track back in midfield and offer a similar threat over 90 mins.
I said it in the other thread, but we’re just going to see a deterioration of this current deterioration in threat over the next two years if we offer Mo 400k a week to be a declining luxury player.. whilst other players degrade over the season due to increased workload (so Szobo, Grav, Diaz etc are accused of being ineffective going forward when they’re increasingly fatigued).
If that's actually the case then let him leave.

"Record breaking season" or not (it won't be, as he won't score or assist enough), what's the point in getting to the crunch if our star players going AWOL? It's not like this season we couldn't have rested him and played gakpo and Diaz on the flanks.

Because he's our 'biggest' name and most dangerous player by a country mile when on form.
I'd add to that list by saying our fans need to STOP singing "we're gonna win the league"...I hate that song, the time to sing it is when we mathematically can't lose the league. We go 1 nil up, the song starts...I'd like to think that it wouldn't affect the players, but as soon as that song started today then the whole game went to shit

Yes, our system is more pressing rather than creative but it got us 2 goals.
Our defence (the 2 fullbacks) cost us 2 goals through stupid passes.
One isn't a full back and the other we're actively replacing. Fine, they were poor, that's obvious. So was the attack. We had possession more than enough in the 2nd half to win that game but we were shite. The midfield and the attack couldn't hold on to the ball in the first half, meaning the defence was put under greater pressure.
The defence made errors, but the midfield and attack enabled them to happen
Most dangerous player? I've seen dead puppies more dangerous than him recently. He's living of things he did months ago, no things he's doing now.

Diaz is our most dangerous player *but* Salah's stats dictate a lot here.
Diaz will NEVER put up the seasons Mo is, and has, putting up in terms of what wins games - goals (and assists too).
So form is irrelevant then?

Nah, you don’t need to be a full back to know not to pass across the line in defence especially if you’re gonna claim you study the game.
And if you’ve played full back all your career then you should doubly know.
Shite performance from the defence cost us this game. Picking on the obvious flaws in our midfield and attack doesn’t excuse that.

But as I say, we're actively replacing half the defence. We conceded due to their errors, but we looked toothless due to the attack. The fact our 2nd goal came from a fullback assist is even a more damning indictment on the attack
That midfield will not change this summer, and that's a fucking shame.
That attack will probably have a new 9, and that's it.
These are valid concerns going forward.
