If Chiesa doesn't start then surely questions have to be asked about whether he's off in Jan

Yeah, I don't see much of a weaker team for a semi-final, especially given who we have in the FA Cup game at the weekend

Looking at the schedule, it's a 9 day gap between the Man U and Forest game.
I don't think anyone is getting rested for that long.
I honestly think Slot will played mixed team of backups and starters tomorrow. Wouldn't be surprised to see Salah and Virg start. Jota definitely starts. Many of them will only play for like 60 mins max.

Yes, he should use it to prime the best XI for Forest.

I think Jota & Slobby both need to start at Forest and we will hopefully see some sides built with this in mind.

Agreed, said it after the Man U game.
Jota needs to start. We need a striker on the pitch and he looked hungry.

After these cup games we are going to have almost a complete squad available, bar Gomez who might be back by Feb. I really hope the hunger, desire and intensity is there to get a run of wins on the board between now and our trip to the Etihad (5 PL games between now and then)

We need to think about the next 2 games collectively with the aim to have everyone as close to 100% for Forest. Accrington Stanley won’t be playing our kids with that in mind. If we are starting Tsimikas against Forest then he also plays tomorrow which means Robbo will play in the FA Cup. I can’t see Ibu playing 2 x 90 mins on the bounce. I can see him getting first 45 against AC.

Spurs

Kelleher (who should get both cup games)
Bradley (possibly 45 minutes)
Quansah
VVD
Tsimikas
Gravy
Slobby (possibly 45)
Mac
Salah (Chiesa 75)
Jota (Nunez 75)
Gakpo

Accrington Stanley

Kelleher
Trent
Ibu (45-60 minutes)
Quansah
Robbo
Endo
Elliott
Jones
Chiesa (45)
Danns (Jota 45)
Diaz

It's also possible Jaros gets Accrington.

I think less likely to see Diaz and Jones against Accrington, and the likes of Nyoni, Nunez, Morton. If we think about team Slot took to Brighton, this is a much lesser opponent. I think Ibu getting 30 mins at Spirs and then a rest is enough for him.

Agree on the Tsimikas point. For me - Bradley & Tsimi should start Forest, so I agree they should both start Spurs. I wonder if Slot will see this.

Our best performance of the season (IMO) had Tsimi at left back, against Leverkusen.

Then difference with Brighton was the timing of the game. It was sandwiched in between Arsenal and Brighton in the league. This time round we are coming into 4 must win games. That makes me think we need everyone 100%.

In the FA cup we may load the bench with the likes of Nyoni and Morton. Isn’t Nunez suspended for the FA cup?

Whilst trophies are nice; if our B/C team can't beat Accrington fucking Stanley, i feel more heads need to roll

Play the kids in that

Spurs get a healthy mix of A&B

Nothing will be decided tomorrow night, even if we come away with a narrow loss (don't think will be the case), we'll have more than enough to turn it around in 2nd leg.

A mix of first team and rotational players. Kelleher, Bradley, Quansah, Kostas, Endo all come in. Possible Harvey too if Szobo is still unwell. I'd keep Virg and Mo in just to keep the morale of the team going into this high.

Spurs have Sarr and Maddison both banned for this I believe, with Vicario Forster Udogie Romero VDV Davies and Richarlison all still out.

Slot on Szoboszlai: Yesterday he wasn't in. If he is in today, I doubt he would be available to start. Hopefully he is in today

Slot is trying to be coy about Trent but he says that he's talked to him. "It wasn't his best game, there were things I had to show, which he has to improve".

Also Slot was asked about January transfers. Says that the club is always active etc.
Then mentions CB's for some reason...

🚨Arne Slot Press Conference Summary:

🗣️Slot on facing Spurs again after 6-3 before Christmas: "They have their identity, we have our own identity. For large parts of the game two weeks ago we could show our identity, but they also showed how good of a team they are."

🗣️Slot on possible line-up changes for tomorrow: "There is always a decision made about the best line-up for that game. For Southampton [in Carabao Cup QF] my opinion was the best line-up was the players who didn't start a lot. We'll see about tomorrow."

🗣️Slot on Trent's performance v Man United: "I think we were all disappointed with how we played. It was not only Trent. He didn't play his best game, but that's not the first time. He's played so many good games ell for this club. We pick it up and start training again."

🗣️Slot on players' social media activity RE contracts: "I talk to my players so if there is anything that worries them, they share it with me. I don't concentrate on social media posts or what is being said about us. If you do that as Liverpool manager, you have no life!"

🗣️Slot on possible line-up changes: "There are many considerations you make before you choose a line-up. We might play a few players that haven't played all the games and a few that have played all the games. Today is the first time we train since United. Let's see."

🗣️Slot on Trent playing so soon after Sunday: "It will benefit every player. Every player not on the pitch would love to play tomorrow as well. Almost all of them are fit. That is quite special at this point of the season."

🗣Slot confirms that Dominik Szoboszlai wasn't training yesterday but could be involved with the team today, although a start against Tottenham tomorrow is doubtful.

🗣️Slot on possiblity of January signings: "It'd be a bit weird if I told you something different than we are happy with the team, but we always look at the market. If there's a chance, this club always brings somone in. I'm very happy with the team and the trust from the club."

🗣️Slot on increased concession of goals: "When we conceded one or two chances early in the season we were a bit lucky. I don't think we're conceding many more chances. We don't like to concede goals but it's the same work rate as the beginning of the season."

🗣️Slot on Mac Allister: "He's played outstanding before (his break due to suspension). I can't come up with a poor performance from him. He's so consistent. He's so involved in every game we play and so important defensively as well. Every player benefits from time off."

🗣️Slot on speaking with Trent after Man United game: "I have [spoken to him]. It's normal. I don't share the things I talk about. After every game we show the players how well they did. Sometimes you have to show what they can improve, but I don't just do this with Trent."

🗣️Slot on Liverpool's results so far: "We haven't stolen a single point. All the points we've got were full deserved. In some moments we deserved more. That's the best forecast we can have for the second half of the season. All the points and results were deserved."

🗣️Slot on whether he'll change goalkepeer v Spurs: "I think I have decided the whole line-up already. There are many things going into the line-up and that is the same tomorrow again. You will find out tomorrow. First of all, the players should know."

🗣 Slot on Cody Gakpo & Luis Diaz: “If you combine the numbers of Lucho & Cody playing left-wing, they are quite close to the numbers of Mo! They are maybe a bit unlucky that Federico is not always fit, so Mo plays from the first minute to the last.”

Arne Slot refusing to reveal whether Caoimhin Kelleher will start in goal tomorrow.

Tottenham v Liverpool, Wednesday 8pm

Tottenham were unable to make home advantage count when they took on Newcastle on Saturday, falling to a 2-1 defeat despite taking an early lead through Dominic Solanke. They are without a win in four league matches, and have only won one of their last eight home games in all competitions. That was in the League Cup when they beat Manchester United 4-3 in a chaotic contest.

Spurs are going through an injury crisis and, to make matters worse, an illness bug swept through the camp last week, which meant second-choice goalkeeper Fraser Forster had to drop out of the side. With Guglielmo Vicario still recovering from a broken ankle, Brandon Austin stepped in against Newcastle at the weekend. It was his first appearance for the club since his arrival in 2019 and he put in a solid showing. Austin celebrates his 26th birthday on Wednesday but is likely to be on the bench, with new £12.5m signing Antonin Kinsky expected to make his debut for Spurs after joining the club from Slavia Prague earlier this week. The 21-year-old keeper – the son of a Czech international stopper by the same name – has been signed as one for the future but Spurs need him now.

Rodrigo Bentancur returns in midfield after missing the Newcastle match with a ban, which is a boost as Pape Sarr and James Maddison are both suspended for the first leg. Radu Dragusin is a doubt having been taken off at the break at the weekend and, with Ben Davies, Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero all absent, Djed Spence may partner Archie Gray at the heart of the Spurs defence, with Sergio Reguilón featuring from the outset in a makeshift backline. Richarlison is close to a return, but this game comes too soon for Wilson Odobert, while Destiny Udogie is out until mid-February at the earliest owing to a hamstring injury.

It’s a very different story for Liverpool. This season could not have gone much better for Arne Slot. His team are top of the Premier League and Champions League tables, and they have precious few injuries considering the number of games they are playing. Ibrahima Konaté and Conor Bradley both returned in the 2-2 draw with Manchester United, a match Dominik Szoboszlai missed due to illness. The Hungarian could sit this one out, while defender Joe Gomez is also missing.

Slot is expected to rotate his side, though he may opt for a stronger starting XI than in the previous round, when Liverpool did enough to see off Southampton. Caoimhin Kelleher, Bradley, Wataru Endo and Darwin Núñez are all likely to come into the team. There may be a slight drop in quality, but Liverpool have won all but two of their 14 away matches this season – including their last four – a record they are expected to extend on Wednesday night. They scored six when they played at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in December, so Ange Postecoglou and his team are up against it.

Terrific responses. I really do admire him with the press.

He's different from Jurgen but no less charming in his own, direct Dutch way.

You really think after this post we aren’t going to get fresh injuries?

Trent------Quansah----Konate----Robbo
--------------Endo---Morton----------
------------------Harvey--------------
Cheesie---------Danns------------Nunez

No point getting any key player injured, I would rest Konate but we have no other CB option.
Trent, Robbo and Danns have something to prove and we shouldn't risk key players for this game

Just when you thought this game would be alright and you see Atwell as ref and Tierney as VAR. Christ.
