We all know he got it wrong that day, it happens. There should have been a bit more of a mix of first teamers and squad players, it was no surprise they played like a bunch of unfit strangers, because that's exactly what they essentially were.If I remember correctly the squad players couldn't beat Plymouth.

Imagine the injuries from that approachCrazier idea.
I’d love if the teams are level after 90 mins you take a player from each side off every 3 mins until a winner is scored.
Would bring a whole level of tactics and entertainment with the winner actually having to go and score.
Imagine 6v6 after 15 mins🤣
I don't think a big rebuild should come after winning the PL (maybe LC) and looking like one of the best 3-4 teams in Europe ! It is a time to strengthen a few areas of concern to enable us to go again next season.
I doubt Salah and VvD want to be here to watch yet another rebuild. In ther twilight years abut still near the top of their games, they want to be challenging and winning trophies and this team/squad has it in it and could be even better next year with new FBs, an extra high quality MFer and replacements for Jota and Nunex.
New LB, No. 9, and we need a more physical midfielder as well - we need 7 ready to go. Also think the forward line needs a real change.I agree, my point was more, if Virgil & Mo leave, along with Trent, do we also proceed with replacing Robbo, Endo and Nunez with decisions on Allison, Jota, Konate & Diaz to be taken as well.
I mean at one end of the scale, there’s effectively total rebuilds of the defence & forward line and the other end of the scale is a new LB and No 9.
The latter is my preference, obviously.

Right. PSG did not have a big physical midfielder. Neves and Vitinha were very good.I never understand this “we need a more physical midfielder” stuff - we’re primarily a possession based team, so what we need is someone technically good that can pass and retain possession that doesn’t have the physique of a skinny little winger.
Signing a new No 9 that can link play, score and doesn’t get injured every other week would be a real change.

I Never said I wanted to copy them, what they played was peak pep ball against us. Also thats just one game, and our mids look very leggy. We need another to allow Grav and Dom to rest.Right. PSG did not have a big physical midfielder. Neves and Vitinha were very good.
My idea of a more physical midfielder is not an Ugarte, the peak definition of what I want is actually someone like a Camavinga - all rounder type with pace and battling instincts.
CM's dont need pace ? I would rather have one that does for recovery etc..CM’s don’t need pace either - it’s the position where pace isn’t important.
Again - don’t mind if they are like a Camavinga as long as the gave the requisite technical ability.

Regarding rotation. The top 3 in the Premier league have used 24, 24 and 23 players this season. City with 27 and Chelsea with 29.
Sorry, I should have posted in here:
It was bad luck drawing PSG, they're ranked 15th but, clearly, they're better than that. A useless group stage put them there. 4 of the 1/4finalists will probably be from outside the top 8 group which means, despite UEFA's best efforts, it's largely pointless. MAKE IT A KNOCKOUT CUP AGAIN.
Salah's stats are ace but you can't argue, he didn't turn up in this tie. He was shite in both legs. PSG wouldn't look at our team and fancy anyone other than Macca and VVD.
Macca was absolutely immense. It’s telling that at a moment of maximum pressure, he was the one who raised his game. From Neil Mellor's tweets:
80 touches, completed 43 of 47 passes.

SG was very quick, so was Henderson in his early years, the quickest ones we have now is Dom and then a few notches down its Curtis, both Macca and Grav are not that quick to cover ground. In any case its pointless discussing this - we actually desperately needed that other midfielder in the last couple of weeks, you can tell fatigue is hitting current ones right now.Recover what??? - are we looking for someone that gives the ball away and gets caught out of position so needs to cover that by running fast.
As DSE said you don’t want someone that’s slower than evolution or turns like a oil tanker (eg Casemiro) - but speed of thought and action are more important than running fast.
Dom is the only midfielder we have known for pace and he’s almost always deployed as the furthest forward were pace is absolutely essential.
I agree... I was in an semi-argument with some twat on newspaper thread waggling on about how the Prem teams aren't "elite" without city... a BS comment but.... in the argument I agreed with you there in your point, our front three was sensational while it lasted, to be fair to the recruitment people they did go looking for pace again with Nunez it's just he is so very very inconsistent.I do miss our breaks when we had Mane, Bobby and Salah. Fuck me. Had we had those up front in their prime we would’ve walked that.
