Post Match PSG and we are out. Post match thread.

Annoyingly, Real probably look like the best bet.

PSG are good and definitely have a shot but honestly they're not that good either. A better team (e.g. us from a few years ago) would've beaten them last night. Their defence just doesn't look good enough.

Anyways, I've been saying for ages now that our attack needs an overhaul - bored of it now.

I can take losing to PSG, I think overall they were the better side, especially in Paris but at Anfield they just picked us off and played it well. Sure, we had a couple of chances and losing on penalties is a shit way to go out, we've won more recently on pens than we've lost. I can take it on the chin though, I don't think we were at our best (I don't think we have been for a while really) and I think much of it was down to timing and us suffering after a grueling run of games. You win some, you lose some. We met Madrid at the right time of the season and PSG at the wrong time of the season in terms of form for the respective teams, that's how football goes.

We must improve though, we can't start limping to the end of the season, hopefully the international break will do us good and we can kick things back off with a derby win. Not forgetting we need to sign off in style this Sunday!

Real will win it, think they have the best attacking front 3 or whatever they play.
I actually didn't think we were far off it but key injuries to Trent and our strikers not really being able to contribute cost us. Ultimately if we had Trent and Macca in Pens then would have fancied us, fine margins.

I agree... I was in an semi-argument with some twat on newspaper thread waggling on about how the Prem teams aren't "elite" without city... a BS comment but.... in the argument I agreed with you there in your point, our front three was sensational while it lasted, to be fair to the recruitment people they did go looking for pace again with Nunez it's just he is so very very inconsistent.

PSG are good and they just about deserved it, it did help em that our lads were knackered in Extra time whereas they'd rested up nicely before game but it does piss me off considering our dumb ass penalty kick choices... BUT... however good we are right now and (please God) we will be champs, we are not as dangerous as we were in Klopp's pomp ..

I've kinda missed the gung ho nature of it at times as well...

One team who seem to be relying on the simplicity and beauty of raw pace is Crystal Palace... quick technically gifted strikers... a big winner...

PSG did it to us we never did it to them...

We need to seriously be looking at our forward line, I really like ALL of our attackers, even the ridiculous Nunez, but ... they ain't as good as the Bobby + Mane + Mo...

Djota, Excellent but not that rapid and injury prone
Gakpo, quality but ain't that fast hopefully his injuries can fuck off in the near future
Diaz... excellent energy... has a habit of keeping the ball one or two touches too many... doesn't score enough
Nunez... He's clearly mental and can cause havoc... fast but the only consistency he exhibits is missing
Mo... On his day best player in the world... nearly 33 now not as fast as he once was and wants a million a week or whatever...

All of this brain farting doesn't detract that we should have won but we didn't, after last week the crowds faith was smashed up and it maybe filtered down to the team. I was pleased with how we played, we really took it to them but I wish we'd have thunk on some before giving an out of form striker a penalty to take.

Do you think PSG will win it??

IF they play as good against the others as they did against us in the first leg... they have every chance.
There’s so much I like about this post.

We had a top 3 that would be lethal. They did fuck up but no where near as often as our front 3 have done so over the last month. I know we have scored a shit load of goals this season but we needed to have considered our options last summer. 22/23 midfield and 23/24 should’ve been attack plus a LB. This simmer should’ve been one for each area of the pitch.

I said last summer I could make a case for selling any of our forwards. This summer it’s strong, minus Salah going on a free.

I don’t think PSG will win it. A more ruthless side will beat them. It was small margins in the second leg. See Quansah hitting the post and our ridiculous decision on pen takers. Even changing how the toss for the pens could’ve changed everything. It just wasn’t to be.

Yermal will tear it up in the final.

I think I was more disappointed with Jones than with Nunez though tbf. I expect Nunez to be shit and miss sitters (and maybe I should not expect much from Jones either) but when Jones came on, he was holding on to the ball too long and reacting slowly to their pressure - as if he hadn't been watching their game plan and playing style unfold before his eyes over both legs. I'm certain Slot and the team would've been working with them in the run up to that game, getting them to move towards the pass, play first time touches etc., because they pressure every player more than anyone we've played in the last 12 months. But no. Fucking Jones was doing the holding on too long wank as usual. Then the missed pen was the cherry on top for me. Not good enough son.
