Alone and homeless: Gazza
Ex-England ace Paul Gascoigne was being treated in hospital today as he faces being made homeless following another drinking binge.
Paramedics and cops were called after the football legend was seen slumped outside his flat clutching a bottle of vodka.
He was in the process of being evicted by his landlord from the property where neighbours had recently complained of the noise.
As he was taken away from his £3million rented penthouse apartment in the exclusive Sandbanks area of Poole, Dorset, Gazza phoned a friend to say: “I am in trouble, please can you come and help me.”

Slumped: Gazza was seen outside his flat with a bottle of vodka

He was being treated at Poole Hospital tonight.
A friend said: “It is very sad. But the reality is Paul has been drinking for the past few weeks and once that happens things will only end one way.
“Today things came to a head. He has had a lot on his plate as he is in the process of trying to find somewhere to live.
“His landlord had given him 10 days to get out of the flat and it was weighing on his mind. Obviously things became too much for him in the past couple of days and he has turned back to the bottle.”

Gaunt: Gazza cut a frail figure as a paramedic led him into a waiting ambulance

On Tuesday morning Paul was seen in a WHSmith near his plush home, which has a balcony overlooking the ocean.
He appeared drunk and unsteady on his feet as he posed for pictures with pals.
Today a spokesman for the star confirmed he was aware of the incident at Gazza’s apartment.

Unsteady: The Ex-England ace needed a helping hand into the back of the vehicle

A spokeswoman for South West Ambulance Service confirmed paramedics were called to attend to a patient in the area this afternoon.
The troubled retired former midfielder has been locked in a life-and-death struggle with booze for years.
His latest rehab stint was in January when he checked into a £6,000-a-month clinic in Southampton.
This was at least his seventh attempt to get professional help to quit alcohol.
Our pictures come after Gazza reportedly signed to play for Abbey Windows FC in Bournemouth’s Sunday football league - for a fee of just £8.
Gazza, who now lives in Dorset, could be turning out in Bournemouth’s Sunday league for Abbey Windows FC.

He's slowly killing himself.
Checked wiki to see how old he is.
He's fucking FORTY-SEVEN years old and he looks like he's at least 60.

I don't think it's sad any more, they've tried to help him, former footballers and friends.
It's hopeless. I've seen the same happen to a close friend to our family.
Some people just can't function without alcohol.

Nobody can function with alcohol abuse. Unless you mean fucking your life up.

If he had burst onto the scene today, the demands of modern football would meant that he would fall from grace sooner rather than later and that may have potentially saved his ass. Too bad.

Saw this last night. Its really sad and will end badly. He's beyond help at this point unless some dramatic changes are done.

I wish they wouldn't run this in the papers, I don't want to see it, Gazza doesn't deserve his life captured at his lowest point spread around the judging public. Alcoholism is fucking vile, it strips people of all their pride and self respect and takes them over, and its pathetic The Lying Rag amongst others are running this like its headline news. The man needs help, not more humiliation, scumbag tabloids.

Really?
How many smokers die annually towards alcoholics.

Well you'd have to factor in drink driving, crimes committed when the offender is under the influence and look at diseases caused by alcohol consumption too rather than just alcoholics who die.

Quite, but then we may aswell factor in passive smoking, fires caused by cigarettes, crimes through theft/illegal importation. You're right though, I used to do work for a drink drive solicitor, I was amazed at how widespread the problem is and how flawed the judicial system is (surprise). The amount of times I dealt with people on multiple drink driving offenses was unreal.

Yes but that's similar too passive smoking which is a massive killer too.
There is absolutely no way that alcohol is the most dangerous drug in the world.

He's just a bloody idiot really. I don't even think it's particularly about alcohol with him, he's just generally incapable of looking after himself. If it hadn't been drink it'd be something else.

You didnt even have to google that picture did you Fox, you just got it from your screensaver.

Ha. He is a bit if a hero of mine to stay in shape in 40s. I'm only 42yrs old and struggling to hang in there as a gym monkey

Not giving up

This is what worries me about Balotelli. Some people are incapable of changing

Poor bugger - I feel quite sorry for him. As I do with all alcoholics really. It can't be nice going through all of that and then getting papped being led into an ambulance. Still reports are he's had 7 spells in detained rehab so that 7 months at least of sobriety and it still hasn't sorted him out.

I didn't realise you were 42, always had you down as a teenager Fox.

Keep up the good work.

He basically needs 24 hour care.... which is a real shame....

Lets hope he is the last of these football cases in our lifetime...

The George Best of our Generation.

But to be honest I wouldnt be surprised if we see another one day the way footballers are paid nowadays.
