Kelleher not happy

The first thing I remember being taught when I moved from being a striker to defender was never pass across your own box. You might fuck it up and even if you don't their striker might be a bit quicker than your mate, so never do it. If in doubt, kick it out. My heart feels like it's gonna burst with all this knocking it about between the defence. I know Ali is good at it but I love Kevin just putting his laces through the ball when we're in trouble so much more.

Remember the Gerrard slip? Yeah it still hurts, but it never would have happened if that dickhead Sakho heeded that advice.

I like the way when we're under pressure he just twats it 80 yards. I love Ali, he's great, but I wish he did that a bit more often. All this fucking round passing it at the back gives me the fear.
I remember watching a match when my son was about 3, so it must have been Ming in goal. They done something like that and I shouted "what are you doing!?" at the TV and my son stopped dead in his tracks and asked "what did I do?". Poor we fucker. Although he fucking beat me in a 400 metre race earlier so he can go and fuck himself now.

Damn - he is so cool, I honestly have forgotten about Ali now. Sorry but he ain't worth 30M - his price should be at least 40M. I don't want to lose him at all - he is so good. He is not the best No 2. in the league - because in reality he is not a No. 2.

I was wondering during the game whether Kelleher is our best goalkeeper, Alisson aside, since Reina. You probably want to see him over a full season to make a proper judgement but based on what we have seen, you'd probably be inclined towards a yes, right?

I know our previous keepers were a bit shitty but still, that's a mental thing to say about our #2.

And Alisson is still a couple levels better than him. It seems to have become somewhat fashionable to say / think we can do away with Alisson but he's the best around.

Is he 2 levels above him? Above certainly but then he's way more experienced and the best keeper in the world.

I think Kelleher has been superb. Even Allison makes an occasional boo-boo to give a way a goal, all keepers do, but Kelleher isn't giving away many and he's an excellent shot stopper, very calm and good at distribution.

We now have 4 excellent our better keepers on our books. Something has to give.

Exactly what I was thinking as well - he's definitely better than the likes of Mignolet, Westerveld and probably Dudek as well. As good a no. 2 as you can hope to have to be honest.

Frankly, we should count ourselves fortunate if Mamardashvili is as good as Kelleher

He's a top class sweeper keeper...rushing out, stopping one on ones etc.
Probably among the best players in the EPL with his feet. Haven't seen many who are as calm as he is with the ball at his feet.

So why isn't he good enough to be first choice for us?

I think it's partly due to his size and athleticism.

He's a good shot stopper, not a great shot stopper.
He's good in the air, not great.

Mamardashvili, however, is a fucking giant. 1.97 m tall.
And is better than Kelleher across the board.

Yes we could have settled for Kelleher and it would have been fine probably, but we did what all top clubs do. If a chance is presented to go for the best, we do it.

It's almost like when Rafa upgraded from Dudek to Reina.

1.97m? Didn't realise he was so short

I don't think at times he is a great shot stopper. He can be, but he can also let in shots that are close to him, where the first thing I usually think is "Alisson would have saved that". He's made some cracking saves in recent weeks, but I didn't think he covered himself in glory against Arsenal, and even against Leverkusen for the disallowed goal, I think that was one Alisson would have got behind.

But yes I tend to agree, he looks better than most keepers around, he's definitely good enough to be playing regularly in the Premiership.

Agreed. Small margins but that's what makes Alisson the best. You just expect him to make the save.

Not so sure. I think we often look at Alisson through red tinted specs. Though who the CBs are and how well they are playing also makes a difference that's difficult to calculate.

I think Kelleher has shown himself to be more consistent and an all-round better keeper than Karius or Mignolet. Sure, his sample size isn't huge, but there's enough there to back it up. The key difference, I think, is the way Karius and Mignolet came up. They were both at clubs where they were constantly busy, making loads of saves — Karius at Mainz, Mignolet at Sunderland. Kelleher has come through the ranks, where he often has to stay sharp even when he’s not involved much in the game. That ability to stay focused when the action's not always coming at him is a big deal and definitely puts him ahead of the other two.

Kelleher has made a few mistakes here and there, but those tend to come in the first game or two after he’s been out of the team for a while. Whenever he’s had a proper run in the side, though, he’s stepped up and performed. It’s been tough to point to a moment where Alisson would have done better than Kelleher in many of games played, and that's all anyone could dream of in a second keeper.

Chelsea have spent about a trillion quid and a case could be made that we have three keepers better than their first choice.

You never know, Kelleher could earn the spot and we might choose to just sell Mashamanovillaamano before he even comes to the club.

Kelleher is an excellent nr 2. Lets be honest and he's better than several of the first choice GKs in the league.
Nor the team or players shit the bed when he has to start and not Alisson.

But, if we're honest, the big Georgian has probably got the higher ceiling and potential to be a World class GK.
If and when Alisson leaves he'll be the one I want as our starting GK.

The first thing Caoimhin should do is change his agent - 7m really!

Who is his agent - a Father Jack lookalike?

199, very upset I never hit the 2 meter mark (Peter Crouch is 201). Maybe if I start yoga & stretching I could get up to that
That type of height shouldn't be allowed. There's no need for it.
