So you know exactly what would happen. The reverse, probably.

Night and day between them.
27 you say.... Meh! I don't get out of bed for anything less than a 24 yr old.
Mind you.... Getting in to bed with a 27 yr old is worth exploring.
Also scouting Herrera and Isco.
There's no way Rodgers would release someone like Carroll out and then bring in Llorente. He'd have to be weird and mental to do that, and that only happens to Liverpool managers in their third year. Not their third month.

I think we all need to start realising the actual situation we are in. no more huge wages will be spent, and that's the only reason he would join us now over even teams like Spurs. Sad reality, but reality.
That's a bit dramatic. We are presently in a situation that means we need to reduce the wage bill but that doesn't mean we won't be willing to offer top talent a good salary.
I'd hope that what we will avoid doing is paying players top money to hang around after they've been at their best. For example - nobody would take any issue with paying 160k a week for Gerrard circa 04-08. Nobody in their right mind would pay the 2011 onwards Gerrard that money.
But he will be nearly 28 in Jan and everything we have been told by the new regime indicates that we won't be signing players at that age for top dollar - afterall you would expect this to be LLorente's most lucrative contract during his career as he will be at his peak. Amortisation is the buzz word here as his selling on value will have greatly diminished by the end of the proposed contract. So basically whilst we probably could we won't be paying for him.
The problem isn't his lack of sell on value. It's timing.
We can do these type of deals when we're on the verge of truly competing. Adding him to a midtable side with no financial flexibility makes no sense. Adding a striker at his peak to a young, improving and contending team is perfectly fine.
Context is everything.
What about the argument that the right such signing could help us become the latter? We were in transition when we signed Keegan, and Shanks described him as having "ignited" the new team which ushered the glory years in.
The relationship between Fernando Llorente and Marcelo Bielsa at Athletic Bilbao deteriorated further on Monday morning after a row which saw the out of favour centre-forward leave training early.
Llorente, who was a late substitute as Los Leones fell to a disappointing 2-0 defeat at Basque rivals Real Sociedad on Saturday, was training with the reserves and youths Monday morning at Bilbao’s Lezama facility.
In an incident filmed by Basque TV station EITB, Bielsa halted a practice game to criticise what he had seen. After an exchange of views, Llorente walked off the pitch alone, and the session finished without him. The Spanish international later left the training ground without speaking to reporters.
Llorente, who has less than a year remaining on his current contract, was linked last summer with a move to Juventus but the Serie A champions did not match his €36 million release clause. Although the player said last month he was looking forward to playing for Athletic this season, he pointedly refused to commit his longer term future to the club.
Amid this unsettling situation Bielsa has used the powerful centre-forward sparingly so far this campaign, with six substitute appearances across La Liga and the Europa League bringing one goal.
Athletic have started poorly and currently sit 17th in the Primera Division table, with just one victory from their first six games.
