Who are we buying this window?

Im starting to agree Liam. Weve spent nothing so far and i dont think we are going to.
Unless Suarez leaves when we will spend some of that money to appease the fans.

This window has been shit?

I think it's been pretty decent tbh.
Carrol gone.

Aspas, has scored 3 goals so far.
Alberto looks OK.
Mignolet is top class keeper, imo.
Touré was free and hasn't done anything wrong yet.

Both Ayre and Rodgers have stated that we're about to sign a few more players, so it's not over yet.

Also, if this window is shite what do you call the summer when we signed Downing, Hendo, Adam, Coates, Enrique and Bellamy?

So far we've replaced like for like. For all the manager's mutterings about improving the squad, have we really? Mignolet for Reina maybe. Toure for Carragher not a major improvement. I'm not Shelvey's biggest fan but was he any worse than this Alberto lad? Only time will tell on that one. Aspas looks a half decent addition. If Suarez goes we simply won't find someone as good as all the decent strikers have gone or ruled moves out. Brendan has talked about 2 first team players coming in. I think like the owners he talks the talk.......Reminds me of Parry's "Edge of the seat signings" disaster.

I absolutely agree, we haven't really improved the team significantly or at all but I kinda like the status quo. We didn't perform too badly at the back end of last season and if we can carry on that form we don't need much improvement.

I badly want us to sign another creative midfielder and possibly another centre half.
How would you rate this window if we manage to keep Suarez and also buy Eriksen and Papa?

I think we simply have to keep hold of Suarez. Anything on top is a bonus. I know nothing of the Greek lad so can't comment. I do think we need a good CB though and if there had to be a choice, I reckon we need a top notch defensive midfielder before an attacking one.

How to win over the fans: Lorenzo Melgarejo of Benfica attempts to give David Luiz of Chelsea a shoeing

Liverpool have made a surprise loan move for Benfica defender Lorenzo Melgarejo.
Boss Brendan Rodgers is keen to find a back up left back for injury prone Jose Enrique, and he sees the versatile 22 year old - who can also play in a more attacking role - as the perfect option.
Melgarejo was a regular starter with Benfica last season and played against Chelsea in the Europa League final, but he is keen on a move to a bigger league, and Rodgers will offer an initial year long loan deal, with a view to a permanent move to Anfield.
Liverpool have also tracked French international Aly Cissokho, but have found the wage demands difficult to countenance, and he sees the Paraguayan as the perfect alternative.
The only problem could be a work permit for the South American, but the Reds are confident they can gain permission to sign the player, given he has just forced his way into the Paraguay national side.

That's not even him in the picture. It's Moreno.

last season rodgers made a few comments about how they club were running under a tight financial plan , the wages needed to be cut , cleanup from previous mistakes needed to be made . He also seemed to imply that this would be loosened but so far this summer it doesn't seem to be the case . We've lost some big earners off the wage bill and pretty much balanced our books with sales and purchases . I don't know , that's probably the reality of where we are but it's hard to stomach because it means we have to face up to the fact that it could be years before we get close to the top and that's if this long term plan even works.

But yeah there is a month left in the window so maybe we will spend . Even then though i am not sure who of quality is out there and willing to join us , there are only so many Coutinhos and Sturridges (decent quality players who isn't working out for at their current club) out there .

If we keep Suarez I'm very happy with the window bar not getting a better CB

Just got to hope we keep Suarez and don't get injuries.

why though ? Aspas looks like a decent addition , mingolet perhaps also although in a position that wasn't critical unless reina left .. but will either take the team to the next level ? We're basically the same as last season and yes we ended it in semi decent form but we have a large gap to close and i doubt we have done enough so far to do that . We surely need to fix our midfield and add some more top , top quality to the team .

I'm starting to lose hope that the widely reported £20m budget was ever there, which is annoying cos I thought after the January signings that we shouldn't really expect any more this summer, so I wouldn't have been disappointed if not for those reports.

I've been disappointed further because the signings of Aspas and Alberto look underwhelming and probably not even priorities. Tbh there have been so many things I'd have done differently it's just a bit depressing to think about.

The additions of Sturridge and Countinho in Janurary made us a much better side after xmas so with Aspas added into that attack I'm quite happy with it.

Getting a potentially 5-8 year goalkeeper for what we sell Reina for is great business and we've brought in an experienced CB on a free.

Not to mention another promising Spainish younster (granted he's looked rubbish in pre season)

Add to that Ibe looks ready to break through and Sterling should also improve and I don't think we are that bad a shape (if Suarez stays)

Even if we somehow keep Suarez our current squad isn't good enough for top 4. Far from it.

I beg to differ, our "squad" without European football, is good enough to get into the top four.
But with a little fine tuning we can do even better.

Yep. I think people need to get real about our chances of the top 4. The only way I could've seen it happening was if we'd sold all the players we'd wanted to and spent every penny really well, but even then it was unlikely because of such a big change to the squad. As it is, with Suarez we can put out a strong XI (but so can all the top 5 teams), but our squad is really really weak in comparison, and even then we'd be reliant on Gerrard being as good yet again, at 33, and Coutinho stepping up still further, Sturridge staying fit, Lucas being decent again, Suarez saying out of trouble...

I mean, day one of the season I'll back us and think we can do it, but looked at coldly it seems a huge task.

Don't agree.

Arsenal whilst they aren't entirely convincing, always find themselves in the top 4. Widely reported they're going to spend some serious money this summer as well - time will tell.
Spurs already have a very good side that have has finished about us for the last few years and they've signed Paulinho and will continue to spend.

We need at least 2 players to go straight into the first team imo.

hmmm not so sure, i still think our defence and midfield will come back to haunt us this season .

Unless we get a truly great centre-back, we're gonna finish at least 10 points off top 4.

Truefact.

It's been decent, but that's with our low expectations. I've said it before and I'll say it again, they bought the Club for a song and are trying to rebuild it on the cheap. We can do better than that, as you won't get back in the CL, b counting pennies. I'm starting to see it for the bullshit it is.

Back the bloody manager. You bought the club for a bargain. Invest in it, stop this ridiculously cheap penny pinching model, Carroll, downing and Henderson or not. You've now got a manager that scouts well. Trust him and take a risk to punt us into the CL.

Did we or did we not try to buy Mkhitaryan for like £25 million?

The money is there. But we need to find the right players to spend it on.
Most importantly we need to find players who are willing to join us.
