Liverpool related transfer speculation

No speculation. But why don't we bid for Harry Kane?
He's 32 in July but, let's face facts, he'll score 75 goals in the next 3 years. Will our other targets?
Fuck some young stud who struggles, sign a delivery merchant. We'd get trophies out of it and, that's what it's all about.
Gakpo, Kane and Salah up front. Bet you he'd sign.

There are two other 30 year olds on a free this summer. The best CB and winger in the league. I wish we signed them too

I think you could only carry Kane or Salah in a team and set up around them - not both

Borussia Dortmund expect to sell Jamie Gittens, 20, this summer and value the winger at £66m to £83m (80m-100m euros), with the England Under-21 international attracting interest from Chelsea and Bayern Munich. (Bild - in German)

He has played 9 matches and scored in 4. If anyone buys him for more than £60m, tell them I have some magic beans to sell them too

Sheffield United are keen on signing defender Owen Beck, 22, and forward Lewis Koumas, 19, from Liverpool if they win promotion to the Premier League from the Championship. The Welsh duo are currently on loan at Blackburn and Stoke respectively. (Mail - subscription required)
Not sure where they get £70m from

We are quite weak and it's irritating. We're also a bit scared of 50/50s.

I want szob to use a bit more muscle. He only won 3 out of 12 duels last night in a crucial part of the pitch. It's all well and good pressing, but you need to try and a do a bit when you're there. Macca wasn't much better mind.

We need some more physicality in this team. Last nights game surely proved that.
Hato at LB would be a good start.

Yep - this is also why Endo would have been great. He's a beast and with half that midfield on yellows he would have absolutely got stuck in.

Personally, I’d like us to go back to using a false nine-style forward and revert Szoboszlai to a hardworking midfield role. There’s little sign that he’ll develop into a productive attacking midfielder anytime soon, but he can help us dominate midfield battles in deeper areas.

From the Premier League, I’d take Cunha—he looks ready for a top side, offers versatility, and brings the kind of technique our forward line can sometimes lack. I don't see much limit to his game I think Slot can morph him into what he likes, but if wants a more physical presence than Pedro offers that but Brighton will get more than he's currently worth. Isak goes without saying, but that's no easy deal either. He would have to force himself out of there.

We also need the most direct, goal-scoring left winger we can find.

I agree that two of Jota, Nunez and Díaz will probably need to move on. Whether that happens in one summer depends on the quality of available targets and the offers we receive, but that would be my long-term plan. It might seem drastic to overhaul an attack currently sitting at the top of the Premier League and Champions League tables, but for all the praise, it has never truly clicked. We can’t expect to see another Firmino-Mane-Salah level of interplay and chemistry in every generation, but I think most fans would agree we’re too far from that in terms of fluidity, productivity, and availability. Changes are justified—it’s just a question of how much and when.

And that's all on the basis we get the Mo deal over the line. We're 4-5 months form losing our top assister and top scorer for nothing, which changes everything if nothing is done.

What would he cost? We are looking at £80m+ I guess..
Assume we manage to only keep VVD but we get big offers for Nunez (£75m+) Trent and Salah leave. Diaz and Konate aren't signing new contracts (assume he wants a contract on par with VVD). If you was Hughes who would you sell and retain and where would you strengthen?
After seeing how some of our players performed against Everton, it would be nice to have someone with a grudge on the pitch.

In that scenario.

Sell Diaz - decent fee covers a chunk of Gordon’s cost if he’s the one we go for. He’s now 28, it’s sell or sign for rest of career and accept he leaves on a free.

Salah leaving frees up cash enough for a replacement - make a decision on Doak & Chiesa as to who stays and who supplements a Salah replacement.

What we save on Trent’s wage will be enough to sign someone to compete with Bradley.

Konate gets his parked for another year with negotiations ongoing.

Big fee for Nunez = big fee for replacement.

So, sales of Nunez & Diaz supplemented by sales of Chiesa/Doak, Kelleher/Alisson, Morton and Robbo/Tsimikas plus significant saving from Mo & Trent’s salaries.

Need to then buy a LW, RW, striker, RB, LB. Assess Badger, Danns, McConnell, Koumas, Beck, Chambers for either selling, loaning or squad integration.

If the strategy is to go for cheaper, younger players, plenty of money for that, but you’re likely looking at back up, with the starting XI staying much the same as this season.

If we want to go big - then it’s in the forward line it happens and we likely hold off on a midfielder and/or CB for another year.

One bad game and gordon is back in the conversation again? Thanks but no thanks. I thought we were meant to be aiming to improve the team, not go sideways. he's so bang average.

Isn’t it more age + contractual situation for Diaz than anything else?

Wasn't long ago we were saying thank god we didnt swap Gomez for him. On reflection I think swapping a hospital bed for Gordon woudl not have been such a bad move

Not about that, I still think Diaz is a better player but considering his contract situation combined with his age, it would be ideal if he goes. Gordon and Gakpo could compete for the LW spot. Gordon can also plays as a striker I think.
Also I think Gordon would count as homegrown I think so and Elliott might be sold.

Signing Gordon when we've already got Diaz and Gakpo seems crazy to me. LWF is probably our most well-stocked position in the whole team, amd he's barely even an improvement anyway.

LB, DM, CB, RWF, striker, and probably RB are all bigger priorities.

Isak, of course. But with Gordon another benefit is that he can play on the right or anywhere accross the front 3 - I think he is more versatile than either Gakpo or Diaz. So when Salah leaves, you have some quality cover at least and it will be less of an emergency to find a comparable replacement right away - so a stronger negotiating position with Salah or his potential buyers.

Gun to the head.

Isak or Gordon?

Isak. For me, he has the higher ceiling and addresses a greater area of need.

If Diaz is going then Gordon has to be high up the list. I think he's excellent.
