I think unfortunately buying these talented kids is almost never worth the effort for big clubs. Lookman's a relative success story but even at 27 he's probably still not good enough for us. Once you're into the realm of having to loan them out for a few years it never really seems to work. We're better off just waiting until they've proven themselves and and swallowing the cost.

Because they're not a really big club. They can play them straight away without worrying too much about what they're sacrificing. They're essentially a stepping stone to a club like Liverpool or maybe even Real Madrid.

Valid point, I’d have been a better scout for teams like Brighton, Bournemouth, Wolves etc who have more time (and need) to develop young talented players before selling them on for big money to the top European teams.
