Liverpool related transfer speculation

So if we get Gordon, are we just assuming gakpo is happy on the bench?

I don't think we get an established player like Gordon and have him happy to rotate with gakpo

Diaz must be the luckiest player in our team. Rarely gets called out like Nunez but is rarely good enough. I think he has been here for 4 years now? Does people still honestly think he is good enough for us? 40-50m and it's adios for me.

He has heart and runs alot i'll give him that but like what Fowler has said, that should be a given. He needs to produce something more.

Gordon would be a major fucking signing, surely you save those for players you really need. We'd be much better off just paying the extra and getting Isak.
That's my thoughts. We're not going to spunk a ton on someone who doesn't walk in to the team. I can see big money striker and exciting but unproven young wingers being bought.

Why would Newcastle sell either though? Nobody wanted Isak last season and Gordon was going for a rumoured 80m or 50m+Gomez?

It will be alot more this time.

Tbf his output was excellent this season until we started playing him out of position. I think it's still better than Anthony Gordon's.

I think he's a bit like Szob in that he's not a top class attacker but occupies defenders with his hard work and energy, plus his dribbling is a genuine worry for the opposition in a way it isn't with Gakpo and Salah.

I think he's a useful squad member in a way that Nunez (shit) and Jota (crock) unfortunately aren't.

He is not a forward like Nunez who miss chances. He doesn't even get chances, he had a purple patch which has all but dried up. He has never shown that he can consistently score or create. He is regularly the least productive our of our 5, on par with Nunez and the donkey doesn't even play that much these days.

Anyway, whatever Slot is doing is clearly working and if we win the big ones I am not going to be giving any player grief but at the end of season I hope a decision will be made on a few players.

I think he contributes more than the numbers suggest, personally.

But even if he doesn't, I just don't think getting in a better backup LWF is a priority this summer. So for me he's fine as long as that's his role, and not first choice striker.

Just saw some stats on him not contributing any goals/assists in 2025 and checked out the details.😳

Since returning from Nov's international break: 3 goals 0 assist in 18 apps (1250 mins); goal involvement every 416 mins; 3 shots on target in 2025's 10 appearances (9 exc. the 9 mins he featured vs. Spurs).

I believe a side can win a league or Champions League with both Díaz and Gakpo competing for the left-wing spot, but relying on Nunez or Jota as the number nine could cost both. The lines have been blurred with Díaz playing through the middle, but ultimately, it's the striker position that needs investment.

Díaz was looking sharp on the left before Slot moved him centrally, and he was earning plenty of praise. His and Gakpo’s form was so strong that the case was made for both to be in the team—and for a time, it worked. It wasn’t entirely fluid, but their individual performances and output compensated. Now, though, everyone seems done with it, and Slot should have been weeks ago. If Díaz wants out, so be it, t’s not the end of the world. But I’d be actively looking to move on one of Nunez or Jota, if not both. The constant rotation at number nine is making everything disjointed, even before you factor in the completely different profiles of strikers in the squad. The roles of LW, RW and AM are all impacted by the type of striker leading the line and their availability. People can debate all day about who the ideal number nine should be, but fundamentally, we need someone to build around—someone our other attackers can instinctively anticipate and play off. Getting the 9 role right will help everything else click better than it currently is.

Is Isak a realistic option? They paid big money for Isak and are not going to sell him for £100m. I think the press said it would cost £150m to get Isak, and he probably would want £300k+ a week.
Looking around Europe, M. Retegui who plays for Atalanta, he is Argentinian has 20 goals and is 25. No idea what he would costbut I would imagine it would be £50-70m

We need a starting #9, we don't need a LW or RW (unless Mo goes). If Mo goes, I wouldn't be against Gordon being part of the response to a revamped front 3, but there would still need to be a #9 in there.

The big gamble with Isak now is the injuries he's picked up over time. Are we confident he's over them? Or can be managed?

Obviously the central forward is the priority and Isak the standout in that role - he will be expensive, for sure and there’s no telling whether Newcastle will sel - feel like that depends on whether they get into the CL.

Diaz, I really don’t mind if he stays, I think he’s a good and useful player - the question is, with 2 years left on his contract this summer, whether he’s likely to sign an extension or run his contract down.

That’s the key - if we want to get max value for him and replace with a younger player - this summer is probably the best time to do it.

The PSR rules will be kept for one more season and if Newcastle dont make the CL you'd think they might be in a bit of shit situation again.

Gordon would be an upgrade on Diaz, not on Gakpo given his form. But clearly, if we're into Newcastle for their players, put some wedge to it and get Isak. Any team in the world would take him.

We should improve striker and then the other flank first.
Yep, find a fit striker whom we are happy up front, another midfielder plus LB.
Then a likely new RB starter, and another defender. Investment required if we are to remain in the hunt next year.
Hopefully Hughes and Edwards have been on it over the year, no more excuses about lack of time etc. I assume they will be given the money as no point bringing Edwards back with an empty remit.
