Liverpool related transfer speculation

Richard Hughes with another blinder. First two signings are as useful as a fart in a lift.

Hopefully he gets back to whatever form made us like him.
He has a shit defence in front of him... But you wouldn't want to get rid of the #1 goal keeper in the world without knowing his eventual successor can do the job

Isak, Danns, Marmoosh (taken, we moved too slow), Alvarez, Boniface, Morata, Thuram, Osimen, Griezmann

All have questionmarks, but ALL better than Nunez/

FFS Morata? Isak, good this season but previous seasons had long lay offs. The rest are not prolific

We need a 9 alright, but we need someone to pick up the mantle of Salahs goal scoring for the future, or a brilliant false 9 that can make the wide players even more potent.

We're used to making world class forwards. Easier said than done, but we need to find one. Being better than Nunez can't be the criteria otherwise my dead nans on a short list in Kirkby.

Too thick to be our striker but not soooo thick that he can't understand the criticism so his confidence is tanking. Worst of both ends for him. Unlucky.

El Chiringuito journalist Jose Alvarez claims that Reds winger Diaz has “offered himself” to Catalan giants Barcelona as he looks to leave Anfield.

The journalist told El Chiringuito: “Luis Diaz has offered himself to Barcelona. His agents have told Deco that he is open to arriving in the summer.”

A report in Spain claims Diaz has become ‘a very convincing alternative’ to Nico Williams, who was Barcelona’s top target last summer before the Spain international opted to stay at Athletic Bilbao.

It’s claimed the ‘discreet performances’ of Williams this term – he’s managed four goals and six assists – along with his decision to snub them in the summer means they’re now ‘giving priority’ to the signing of Diaz.

The 28-year-old has scored 13 goals in all competitions this season but has been in and out of the team under Slot, and reportedly believes the head coach ‘does not value’ his contributions sufficiently.

Diaz has ‘already shown he would be delighted’ to move to the Non Camp as he ‘ends his adventure in the Premier League’, with €70m thought to be enough to bring Liverpool to the negotiating table.

The report also states that Diaz has ‘three conditions that are essential to sign for Barcelona’:

‘The first of all is that its arrival takes place during the month of July, in order to arrive on time to carry out the pre-season normally.
That is, he does not want to arrive in August, and have to overcome the acclimatization process with the season already started, or about to start.

‘And the second is to improve the salary he currently receives.

‘Finally, Díaz has also asked Laporta and Deco not to sign another striker for Barça, to have no more competition, and be the only galactic reinforcement that arrives this year.’

If they want Diaz and we go after Williams, I'm in. Camp site scouted out for the summer.

If Diaz wants to leave, the club should let him go. I don’t feel strongly about it either way, even with all the changes expected this year. He’s deserved a higher wage since establishing himself as a starter, but that’s just how it is. He’s a very good footballer, always gives his all, and is rarely unavailable, but he’s never been productive enough. His best moments happen far from goal. If we had a clinical striker, which may have been the plan, that wouldn’t be such an issue. But we don’t, so he’s part of the problem and an opportunity to improve.

Gakpo has started showing he can score consistently from the left this season, so if we have to back one player, it should be him.

I’d be happy for Díaz to stay, as long as the No. 9 role is sorted. The bigger concern is how determined he is to leave and how much noise his roley-poley dad makes in the press. I’m just waiting for the inevitable claims that he’s the second generation of his family to be held against his will.

Ademola Lookman

Liverpool have joined the hunt for £6million-rated Charlton wonderkid Ademola Lookman.
The Anfield club have become the latest to express an interest in the 18 year-old who is set to leave the Valley this summer following Charlton's relegation to League One.
Forward Lookman has burst onto the scene this season, scoring five times in 16 starts and was named Football League apprentice of the year last month.
Chelsea and Tottenham wanted to land Lookman in January but were unable to strike a deal while Arsenal and Everton were also keen.

We were linked with Moussa Dembele of Fulham a few months ago and at the time I suggested that Lookman might be the better option. They're 2 very talented kids and both of them could go on to be top players but IMO Lookman has more to his game. He's very mature for his age; despite ALL the problems at Charlton this season and despite their lack of success on the pitch he has consistently battled away and is never afraid to take responsibility. He always wants the ball and if it's not coming to him he goes looking for it. Seems decent in front of goal too. For £6m it's gotta be worth the risk.

That was my post from 2016! I really should have been a football scout. ☹️

Not sure I like the look of the recent incident which led to a falling-out with his manager at Atalanta (he wasn't the designated penalty taker but insisted on doing so against Bruges in a European tie and missed, which sent them out). There's "not afraid of responsibility" and then there's this. He's talented, but I don't want to see that from a Liverpool player.

Yeah, I advocated signing him for £6m when he was 18 but I definitely would not be happy if we spent £65m on him at 27.
