I don't believe it personally. How would Monk know whats happening? Plus he said he was going to manure in May. I think many people are more believing out of hope than common sense.

Disagree. Both sides really need to get this done, LFC because Klopp badly wants the player and Southampton because selling him to us is the only way they're now going to get value for money out of him.

They will still get the same value next season as he's got 5 years left on his contract. They did the same with Wanyama and Schneldlin who both downed tools but then had to knuckle down and play for the season before getting their move. They do it that way to give themselves plenty of time to get a replacement. Apparently Southampton have never sold a player after the 28th July....or is that in the last 5 years i can't remember.

Neither Schneiderlin nor Wanyama went as far as van Dijk in turning down moves to other big clubs which were known to be interested in them. We're effectively the only club to whom they can now sell him, and the fee will plummet if they underline that by finding themselves in the same position this time next year.

Let's see where we stand this time tomorrow. 😉

Lol 'football expose'

[article]Southampton hope to reintegrate Virgil van Dijk into first-team training next week, with new manager Mauricio Pellegrino preparing to again tell his captain that he will not be sold this summer.

Van Dijk has been left to train back at the club’s New Forest base while the rest of the squad continue their preparation in France after he was judged not to be in the right of frame of mind but it is understood that the 26-year-old has worked diligently this week on his fitness.

Southampton’s new board of directors remain adamant that this will be the first summer since the departure of former chairman Nicola Cortese in 2014 in which they will not make major sales. That stance extends to Ryan Bertrand – who has been of interest to Manchester City – as well as Van Dijk.

The Van Dijk situation blew up early in the transfer window when a series of stories emerged in which it was reported that Van Dijk wanted to join Liverpool due to their manager Jurgen Klopp. That led to a complaint by Southampton over suspicions of direct contact between Van Dijk and Klopp – which would be against Premier League rules – and then an apology from Liverpool and promise that they would not pursue the transfer.

Southampton remain confident that Van Dijk will accept the situation, not least because any future chance of a move to a club in the Champions League would hardly be helped by a loss of form or any question-marks about his commitment. Van Dijk, whose contract does not expire until 2022, has not played since January following an ankle injury and it was Pellegrino who decided that he should stay outside the group until he was fully committed psychologically. Southampton play St Etienne on Saturday in France before final warm-up fixtures at St Mary’s over the next week against Augsburg and Sevilla.

As well as keeping Van Dijk and Bertrand, Southampton are looking to make one or two additions and there has been interest in Tottenham’s Kevin Wimmer.

Two weeks until the league starts.

Our last match was 68 days ago.

We ARE fucking dickheads.
Seriously, what kind of fucking mickey mouse shite run this club.

We have been chasing TWO fucking players all summer. Both of whom it looks like we wont get.
We have royally fucked this.

Game in 2 weeks.
Brilliant.

At least Coutinho show he is lojal to them by exposing his Mickey Mouse tattoo... ;-)

I'm not convinced this one is dead yet, they plan to get him back with the squad next week, if he decides his heads still not in it, what can they do then?

I trust Sheik.

And i also think it will happen because i think it will be a dreadful overpay and an allround terrible deal.
