Superb save from Ali but otherwise very little to do (7)
I thought Matip (8) was excellent, better than VvD (7) even, who looked a little reticent to go in 100% and a little slow (for him) even if his positioning was near perfect (as expected).
Tsimikas (7.5) was very very good too, until he lost concentration - that error seemed to burst his bubble, or he was gassed.
AA (7) good at both ends for most of the game. Put in a real shift.
A tough game for Millie (7), he clearly tired and fucked up a couple of times but also played some superb balls out wide and made some fine tackles. He should have been subbed for Fabs earlier.
Keita (7), ran around a lot, made a few good tackles. He looked more creative in the first half but he really had to cover for the Invisible Ox.
Ox. (4.5) Incredibly frustrating and clearly not a CM, which is where he spent most of the game - his last ever in that position for us.
Mane (6) his passing drives me nuts (as I may have mentioned once or twice already), occasionally brilliant but more often short, wide or just ... Some lovely moves but a couple of crap shots too.
Jota (6.5) has the happy knack of being in the right place at the right time. He had to drop back too deep too often because our midfield wasn't operating perfectly and that isn't his game. He needs to stay up there on the defenders' shoulders.
Salah (8 - MotM) I wish he'd taken that last shot on ... can't believe he tried to cross it ! 1 on 1 I fully expected him to curl that in for #4. Anyway an excellent performance and it was great to see him so full of energy and playing a full part in the TEAM.

Fabs (8) though just for 30 mins so no Top 3 slot. I just love this guy.
Firmino (7) he really seems to be happy and back in some sort of good form. Long may it continue.
Elliott (6) he's good enough so I was happy to see Klopp give him 10 mins. He definitely tried to get involved.

To be fair, Keita put in a very Gini-like performance. If he can stay fit, we probably won’t miss Wijnaldum all that much.

I worry about Tsimikas defensively up against a quality attack.
Virgil looked to be easing himself back but was still pretty classy. Joel was excellent too.
I thought that Mane looked sharp today even if his end product wasn't all that.
The chemistry between him and Mo was good and that augurs well.
I though Oxlade Chamberlaine was meant to be training to be Bobby's understudy? Because he certainly isn't an under study for any of our midfielders.
I doubt he is one for Bobby either.
Bobby looked good when he came on while Jota, despite scoring, looked off.

I wish between Ox and Keita they would just take on some players.

Since countinho left isn't this just normal midfield dna? It's almost as if they get reprimanded for trying to dribble as a midfielder. I know Keita is capable of dribbling so we do have it in our players..I just wish they'd do it more often

Yeah miss Gini if that was a must win game and saw that midfield three on the timesheet an hour before the game.
Naby and Milner did ok in middle mind you.

Salah's agent is such a prick.

Tsimikas started well but faded and got worse as the game progressed with a few pretty dodgy moments.

Fabinho is as important to us as anyone else in this team.

Yeah I thought Tsimakas has a good game until the last 15 when he was awful. Maybe ran out of steam I don't know but giving his man far too much space. Thankfully the game was over by then.

Anyone know the story about the rent boys chant?
I thought in reference to Roman Abramovich after he bought the club.

I look forward to United fans getting sanctioned for their discriminatory anti Scouse songs this season. Fat Spanish waiter is xenophobic. Sanctioned! In fact, just a light applause for 90 minutes, please. Thank you.

I missed the game to be honest, I only watched the highlight.
But, I have a few guesses about the game:
  1. We missed Fabs in midfield.
  2. Ox reminded us of how bad he is in midfield. Lemme guess, stupid shots on goal and ran into people all the time.
  3. Tsimikas was probably really good.
  4. Mané was OK, but carried on from last season making stupid decisions
How many have I got right?

1. Yes
2. One shot. Didn’t even run into people
3. Great till 75 and was gassed. Made wrong choices but we were out of sight by then.
4. I liked him and could’ve had a goal. The front 3 seemed more of a unit than individual parts.
