Personally I think he's been really great for a while now, form is temporary and all that? He looks fitter and leaner. Rodgers deserves alot of credit for the way a few players have turned previously poor form around, Hendo, Downing, Reina, Carra and Enrique have all looked alot better as the season has gone on.

Brendan Rodgers has praised the 'outstanding' Pepe Reina for his contribution to Liverpool on and off the pitch.

The Spanish stopper - a three times outright winner of the Premier League's Golden Gloves award - has been back to his consistent best over recent months and Rodgers is delighted with his man between the sticks.

"He's never been unsettled and our relationship is very strong," the boss told reporters. "I have given him and a few of the senior boys real responsibility and I think they have enjoyed that.

"I see him as someone who is going to be here. He is 30 years of age and is someone who looks after his body. The sports science team this year have worked really well with him.

"I think he's been outstanding and had great focus and hopefully that will continue for us."
Off the pitch, Rodgers revealed that he has a strong relationship with Reina.

"Pepe and I speak a lot," he said. "He's a good man and I've got real respect for him as a player and as a human being.

"He understands everything we are trying to do here and is a great voice in the little debriefing meetings we have with the group and with the defenders and other goalkeepers. He's brilliant.
"And on a personal level we'll sit and have a cup of tea in the office and we'll chat about where he's at with his game and how he can improve."

I'd still be open to offers on him

Depends how much and who the replacement was, I'd certainly be less pushed to see the back of Pepe than a few others, he's still a top keeper, there aren't many around that are as commanding and as good as a sweeper. He has made mistakes and is getting on a bit, granted, but he looks like he's worked on it.

I wouldn't go increasing his wages or anything, but I'd be happy to keep him here. I'm mindful of the trouble we had in the past of being able to get a solid keeper, as well as the issues Arsenal and Untied have had.

With Carragher retiring and with the likely loss of Skyrtel and Coates I'd prefer to keep him to help organize any new arrivals, Agger can't!, Johnson is half the time in the opponents half and Enrique is just mad. Pepes form has improved, so that and the he that he will be be the oldest head in the defense means he should be kept

Dont think we should change up to 2 players in defence and the goalkeeper in the same window, and possibly a midfielder aswell.
Pepe has looked better for a while now, and I'd be inclined to give him another year. Seeing as we have the youngest team in the league (see the fantastic pirate thread), then having an experienced goalkeeper is only positive imho.

Pepe's best days are behind him. I'd take a decent offer.

Pepe's best days were really really good, his current form is still about as good as most in the league, he's still a more than able keeper. By that reckoning we could have got shut of the likes of Hyypia alot sooner. You don't know what you've lost till it's gone, we're still feeling the repercussions of losing Sami and people were writing him off for years..

I'd definitely keep him for now. He's proven quality and better than Vorm who we are being linked with.

We need a new defence and a keep with experience and authority to help get them set up. Plus, Pepe is great to have in the changing room and for morale.

I for one never advocated the sale of Sami. We haven't yet replaced him in my opinion. Pepe hasn't been motivated at Liverpool for a long time and it showed in his performances. He wasn't injured and just became lazy possibly due to having his head turned or a lack of competition.

Theres plenty of goals that we shipped where he didn't even attempt to make a save. That's inexcuseable. While you only miss the water when the well runs dry, I'll flog him now while we can get good money for him. We don't need any passengers in the team (there's enough), we need the real Pepe Reina to show up every match. That's a minimum requirement.
