Really?

Dont think hes played much at all for them, Saw a bit of him when he came on against Everton a month or so back, ginger kid, he played on the right, looked physically up for it and looked like he had a lot of running in him, cant say much more than that really going by the small sample.

A young Paul scholes apparently...

I've had some time to consider this - I know you've all been waiting on me - and my reaction has gone from what the fuck is this meh signing all about to this could be quite a good deal and it's thinking about Man City that swayed me.

They've got as much tippy tappy football in them as anyone else in the league and yet Negredo and Dzeko were big players for them. Very different players to Aguero but proved to be quite effective at different times over the course of the season. The depth they had up front basically won them the league.

Their strikeforce cost in the region of 90M and the wages I dread to even think about. We can't go toe to toe with that shit.

Lambert could be our Negredo. On the cheap.

we need to take sentiment out of this. if our rivals signed lambert for 4m we would be laughing our heads off. we are not flush enough to spend 4m on this guy, eto for example would have been a freebie and prob more if no as effective.

Why exactly? Sentiment (in my mind anyway) is a massive part of being a football fan. You as a red knows that surely? He's a decent player and as Oncy rightly says will work his balls off for us. It's great on a few different levels. He's an option when things might need to be changed. I'm totally cool about this.

You really bothered about 4 million quid? thats pocket change in the game today, Glen Johnson earns well over that per year for us.

Lambert is younger and scored more last year

Yeah but Eto'o cost loads of money once and is foreign. Lets take sentiment out the equation and buy ten Johnny Foreigners for £20m a piece. He'll be made up then, we'll be as boss as Spurs.

Mark, breathe deep, relax, take out your angst on somewhere else, let's play the ball.

How would you define 'world class'? Someone who will be going to Brazil maybe?

its very subjective i agree. in my view world class is a player who would get into 9 teams out of 10. sure we would struggle to get those sort of players, but we should be aiming to buy players who can make that transition whilst at lfc. they will not come cheap and that it waht BR was suggesting when he talking about 'quality'.

Mark, I admire the positive outlook, and I am with you, but pivotal might be a reach 😉

I love the fact he was a boyhood red who has worked damn hard to get back to his boyhood club. It's very romantic if you ask me (puts on candles, and pulls out the Malbec)

If this reminds me anyone, it reminds me more of Teddy moving to United, he could be that pivotal.

I see what you're getting at but can't see the comparison myself. two very different players in terms of pedigree and achievement at the points of transfers.
