Lambert

Hold up a second. All i said was that lambert was a 'meh' signing and that after rodgers said no more squad signings his first signing is a squad player. I've never been a big fan of lambert and to be honest all those noises i was making about last summer were true. I said alberto and aspas were poor signings and waste of money and we overpaid BIG TIME and it was proved true. I'm not knocking lambert. If we make some 1st team quality signings i have no issue with it. Just i'm not exactly excited about signing Lambert. Hardly me making noises. I've hardly even posted on this thread. Am i meant to pretend to like a player just to fit in or something or am i not allowed an opinion unless it matches yours. You're quick to bitch about people going off on one when you do it all the time on many issues.

I'm not saying you're not allowed an opinion, that's just ridiculous, it just seems to be same negative response. I don't expect you to pretend to like Lambert, but the negative factor seemed to be that Rodgers said he was looking for top quality. Because he signs a £4m striker as back up, I don't really see how has that any bearing on his comment. Say he has a kitty, he's spending that on 3 quality players, then he sells players and uses that money to replace the outgoing players with better suited individuals for the squad. I don't see any issue in relation to his comments about buying players who will improve us.

People DO bitch about issues, the same one's usually, it gets annoying. Like I said, I'm not trying to be an arse and if I've fallen into the same trap then I apologise. It just gets irritating sometimes, I wish people would look at the bigger picture - it's May, there's three months of a transfer window to go, just enjoy it.

Comparisons to Sheringham or Shearer are a bit of a stretch to be fair. I see him closer to a modern day Paul Rideout. He's better than Aspas so we have improved if he's replacing him. Good luck Rickie what a dream come true for a genuine red.

Credit to Ayre and Co, for once - after having so many transfer plans leaked long before there's any chance of getting them completed, we actually seem to have kept this pretty secret. Hopefully that's a sign of progress.

My guess is that most of the time it's agents engaged by the player or selling club who are the leaky twats. Possibly even the players themselves.

So we can assume that Lallana or his agent has been leaking stories about our interests. This move for Lambert must have stunned him or them.

No its inaccurate from you

Ok - there's an easy fix and an opportunity to prove your point.

List the players In the past couple of years we signed on deals that we never heard anything about until they were agreed.

Because Lallana is to follow, inflated Lambert price avoids a chunk going to Bournemouth for the Lallana deal.

We pay less than the asking price for Lallana more for Lambert..

Everyone's happy (Except Bournemouth)

Too obvious and Bournmeouth would have decent case at a tribunal if that were to happen: at any rate, Bournemouth is Southampton's problem and must deal with it by itself.

EDIT: Everybody, including Sky, seems to have accepted £4 million.

They'd only have a decent case if £20m+ is proven to be the correct market value for the player.

Southampton could argue that it was good business selling a "27 yr old, after one good season in the Premier League, having spent most of his years in lower leagues & just recently made the national team - and that there are plenty of other players from overseas available much cheaper" - any more than £15m would be outrageous.

The obligatory youtube video.

Every goal and assist in the league last season. It'll take you about 30 seconds to appreciate he's no Andy Carroll.

That's literally the most I've seen of him, but he kinda looks okay and he's supposed to be reasonably decent isn't he?

Certainly takes a mean penalty. Doesn't the keeper go the right way in virtually every single one, yet still doesn't get close?

I mean, £4M in footballing terms is basically two bits of fuck all these days, ain't it? Regardless of these notions of 'buying for the first team' realistically we ain't doing that for striker unless Suarez goes, so on the face of it, this looks like a fairly shrewd move, no?

The fact that he's one of us makes it a nice little story

I presume you're talking to me Keni? The usual people who are quick to respond and react to this stuff, Redmaradonna, GlenC. Typical responses they were making last Summer, I'm not trying to be an arse, but it's the same people reacting the same way.

Hang on a second don't drag me down to your level. I am proud that I want the best for lfc, I am proud that I want us to have the best players. Sure last summer I expressed my views in a strong manner but that was because I knew how important the tranafers would be as our rivals were all in a transitional phase.

You somehow define me by that and rather pathetically make snide comments here and there. How would you like it if you were defined by your constant vitriol against Johnson THROUGHOUT the season. You were a sound poster but have become a cliche of someone embittered who thinks they have a righteous take on lfc. Do us all a favour and tone it down as you're making 6cm a rather unpleasant place to be around.

Let's get Lallana in before the WC and that will be 7 LFC players in the squad (and could possibly even see them all on the pitch at one time too) - is that a record ?

Mark still is a sound poster, one of the soundest. If you have a problem with him don't try and corral the rest of us into it.

Drag you down to what level? That you moan and fucking moan about every slight movement that doesn't involve the £30m transfer of some foreign player most people haven't heard of?

I am proud of my team too, proud of it's ethics, proud of not joining the Spurs school of thought of throwing £20m at anything that moves and hoping something sticks.

I don't "define" you, you define yourself, with your constant posts about who we're not signing, how every small signing somehow defines the club, while every big signing you don't want is an over payment or a fuck up.

Johnson? I'm alone on that one aren't I? I've actually said time and time again (and been ignored - no agenda there though) that he's a great "player" but a poor defender, read what you want to read, it's been a constant criticism of him amongst fans and critics alike. We're all wrong though. Ever heard the saying "no smoke without fire"?

I don't think I have a righteous take at all, I just think some posters on here completely misunderstand the ethics of the club and have grown up in a shite environment where success is in relation to how much money you throw at players, everytime we pick up a potential bargain we get shite thrown at us. Everytime we pick up a player for big money, from somewhere that isn't a big European side, we're being gullible.

Do us all a favour and stop repeating the same shite and I might stop pointing it out.

WHAT are you on about? I made a few posts last summer and is that all you can remember since I have been on this site? I always just a transfer by context. There have been plenty of times I have been unsure of big money foreign signings as well as domestic signing.

Do us a favour and stop spouting rubbish based on a couple of posts form 12 months ago. Next time you have an issue, [play the BALL, talk about the Post, not the poster. Otherwise put me on ignore.

Thanks for addressing the rest of the post, you know, the bits where you slated me and I tried to justify it.

because the rest of it is rubbish.

"with your constant posts about who we're not signing, how every small signing somehow defines the club, while every big signing you don't want is an over payment or a fuck up."

How do I constantly go on about this? As much as you about Johnson? As I said I constantly judge each transfer by context. Shoot me if I get excited about sexy foriegn transfers, who doesn't? After the likes of Torres, Suarez, Xabi, big money signings are things to be excited about. But they are risky.

I'm sure you will have forgotten or ignore my questioning of Moreno or Shaquri to name a few.

I go out of my way to be polite to posters and judge them by their posts, but you're becoming a troll and unpleasant.

"Coz the rest is rubbish" - in other words, I can't be arsed challenging it and ending up looking like a dick. Sound.
