Exactly. People are getting wound up because there's the possibility that the only player we've had concrete links to might turn us down. He's a half decent player. That's all. You'd think he was Zinedine Zidane. We can offer the same prospects as Tottenham, competition wise, next season so he'll have gone for the wonga. Fuck him if that's the case. We need better than him anyway and looking at the bigger picture, Spurs will be weakened, losing Modric and replacing him with Sigurdsson.

Stevie playing the right AM leaves us short of at least one quality cm by my reckoning, possibly two if you play suarez left AM cos downing is too shit to do it.

Unfortunately one of them is coming back from a career threatening injury, another is 32 and just after playing in the Euros, not to mention the fact he has major injury/fitness probelems, the others have yet to prove themselves, jury's stll very much out.

It's an area where we lack goals and creativity.

Obv it's easier said than done but think it's harsh to have a go at people for it. Especially when you consider the need for some quality signings and our record of fannying about with deals only for the said player to join a rival.

So we essentially need 5 quality midfielders for this system, one being able to operate in the hole or between the lines.

Stevie can do the right AM, suarez left, cole central (imo hes not good enough to do that for the record), Henderson behind them & lucas or spearing as a dm/quarterback.

Using that as a basis we need to move suarez central & buy a left am, or buy a quality player to fill that central role.

We need a better player than spearing to cover lucas cos spearing isnt up to it, & ideally we need cover for Henderson or a more experienced player in that cm role.

Still leaves us with little reliable cover too, despite us needing two midfielders.

So yeah, we should be targeting quality midfield players, definitely.

If he stays at Anfield, Joe Cole's most likely going to be deployed as one of the wide forwards. That's where he's been playing for Lille in the just ended season & where he played while at Chelsea.
