The new number 9…

Sesko has been utter shit every time I've seen him. Darwin is better than him. Openda is the more impressive of the Leipzig forwards.

I actually think Marmoush looks very good, though he seems to be a late bloomer. It'd be either him or Joao Pedro. The #9 market has been pretty bad for a while.
Yeah I have to say Sesko has not impressed me either. Young and could/should get better but right now? I'd be very dubious.

Premier League tax, I'd probably like João pedro. Problem is, he's only really performing this year properly

One thing on Pedro is that I imagine Brighton would be open to some sort of 'swap' (even though they are never really a swap). Jota or Nunez + £20m. Both are easily good enough to lead the line there.

Thought he was excellent for Brighton last season. 20 goals in 40 games.
You're including 11 in the Europa Cup and FAC which some on here don't consider worth counting (Nunez had 7 in half his minutes and without any penalties).

In the PL he scored 9 in 2,065 mins last season (ca. 1 goal very 230 mins and that inc. 4 penalties + 1 missed, so 1 every 413 mins without them)! Every one of our strikers is better than that this season (even Darwin is 1 goal every 312 mins). And he won't be penalty taker here.

He's done better this season (4 in 521 mins but early days for him after missing 54 days with a hammy).

And he's only 1.82m (Darwin is 1.87m) so for a #9 that's small.

I'd want MUCH better stats than that for a new #9.

Problem is, do we buy the ready made star or buy the one about to break out? Pedro is either at his peak or about to kick up a few levels.

Famous last words - that was the thinking behind Nunez too. Surely we don't need to take another gamble. And that sounds like you're trying to convince yourself. I doubt our stat guys would sanction a move for Pedro.

I think with a guy like Pedro that he might not have higher levels to go to, but having scored at a good rate for Brighton, who are a very decent side, then he's likely to be a least a little more prolific for a better side. I we paid Darwin-level money for a guy who's going to at least score 1 in 2 then I'd be happy with that. And if Darwin was scoring at least 1 in 2 we wouldn't even be having the conversation.

Well, every goal counts. The comparison should be made for every game played.
Joao Pedro also plays as 10 and is 2 years younger.
He also played for a team that finished 11th.

Difference is Nunez never did it on the prem. Pedro is.

I strongly doubt Pedro is being looked at as Brighton are nasty negotiators.

I can guarantee you Pedro, Cunha and Isak are not on a list of strikers. I remember people here picking out Cunha before he went to Wolves, so hopefully if we are going for forward we won't get one that will cost £70m plus.
How many games have we had despite the number of failed attempts at goal where we have failed to score? Its not a priority for Jan (to sign a FW) especially if Cheesie can prove he is a vintage Italian rather than American Cheese. Nunez may fail to score but he is involved in goals, he harangues opposition players forces them to make mistakes which often leads to goals which is why Slot says he is involved in so much of our play. We let in 3 goals against the Magpies, and had Konate been in defence I think we would have won that game comfortably.

Is Omar Marmoush number nine? If he is a true nine, then he definitely deserves to be part of the conversation, especially as one of the more affordable options available. That said, my main concern is how recent his improvement in productivity has been. I’m always wary of signing attackers from Germany—the games are far more open compared to the Premier League, and the defences aren’t much better than those in the Dutch league. Wout Weghorst is a prime example: he scored 60 goals in 120 games in Germany but managed only 2 in 37 Premier League appearances. It’s an extreme case, but it highlights the risk. For Bundesliga attackers to succeed here, they need to be head and shoulders above other players in the league. If Marmoush can sustain his current output through the second half of the season, then I’d be open to a move. At least then we’d have two years of data to assess, rather than just one season like we did with Darwin Núñez, which goes someway to mitigate the risk.

What would be timely is if Danns gets the chance to start the EFL game and makes Slot think he can be an option.

Challenge being Jota returning from injury might get more minutes in that than we'd like.

I would agree but Danns has played 1 game this season and that was 30m. He definitely competes with Jota for medical team time

Not sure how the table will come out but his best work is in the #9 position. 14 goals and 8 assists from the #9 position. However, he is a summer signing. I suppose come summer we have the two best Arabs playing for Liverpool next season, I would imagine kit sales to do really well in the ME

NB The table pasting still does not work.

The thing with Marmoush is that he feels like a trap even for the 40-50 mill quoted. Late bloomer, not really an out and out 9 and plays for a team were he is part of a front two.

We need a striker than can be the focal point of Arne's set up and tactics, and that doesnt feel like this lad.

Samu Omorodion at Porto is the other guy to look at. But he just moved this summer, and has a 100 million release clause.

He's the one Chelsea were trying to sign. Definitely one to follow. Has looked very impressive for Porto.

I would like a player who:

1) Has a good first touch
2) Has intelligent movement
3) Can link up play
4) Can hold off CBs
5) Can finish in and around the box.
6) Has good pace to stretch teams

From what I've seen, my top 6 picks would be:

1) Aleksander Isak
2) Viktor Gyökeres
3) Joao Pedro
4) Matheus Cunha
5) Omar Marmoush
6) Lois Openda

Any one of the top 4 names, in particular, would improve us A LOT.

Unfortunately we don't have a top class CF. Jota is good but not top, top class and is injury most of the time. And Nunez is Nunez.

If Isak were an option then he has to be top of the list. Insanely talented and proven player. Nunez has a good record at SJP - let's initiate the swap. Their fans would fucking love him
