He wanted rid of him, but we didn't get one in, I think is the long and short of it. Endo didn't do anything to convince him in preseason, or rather he convinced him he wasn't technically up for it.

Still, now, he should be a bit more than just some last 5 minute guy. I imagine he will get time in league cup and dead rubbers?

Regarding blame, we played casually, it's true, but we also were set up stupidly. You try to play through the middle against a very very compact side, and have only one functioning flank, then every time you cough up the ball you are high and have no one at RB. It's not a fair trade for us as an attacking team.

I've officially become one of those old people I used to laugh at, but this inversion thing makes no sense to me unless you are absolutely dominating a match, which we absolutely weren't, in a meaningful sense. I also think it's something you can mix in, but it shouldn't be the static default state, because if you aren't holding the ball, it looks fucking dumb.

You have to take into consideration that he's Dutch ! Even when happy they sound like they are whinging !

He missed 2 semi-difficult one on ones. The rest was bad. A free header where he could watch it went the opposite direction, he got in Jones’ way during a 4 on 3 break which Jones fucked up anyway and all round play wasn’t on the same wavelength. Despite Mo noshing him off this week there was a chance where Mo could’ve passed to him but decided against it and took on an impossible shot.

No need to rest them though. Had a week off, play twice this week and then get rested next week again.
Lack of rhythm was partly the reason for us being shit in the first half, and that would have looked even worse against Fulham if they didnt play tonight.
