No, we need a Silva/Sneijder/Kaka/Kagawa/Mata type. Soemone who can create in the 10 role.

I'd play them off the striker on the inside forward role. I'd agree 100% we need one, but I'd keep that creativity higher up the pitch, rather than deeper.

I thought he'd started out wide but now seen as more of a playmaker type. Well basically he's a big fish in a small pond at Bologna and is probably indulged somewhat.

Isn't Ramirez more of a winger?
Nope, he's like an attacking mid like Silva. Only nowhere near as good. I hope we stay clear.

Just go after Marvin Martin - Sochaux will sell, and he won't cost the earth, and he's going to be brilliant.

I've seen him 4-5 times, and he's looked very average each time. He also looks completely unsuited for England.

OK. I'll text Brendan presently.

We need a more creative midfielder.
We won't get one. Sigurdsson's the attacking mid we're getting this summer, and a good-ish player though he might be, I'd really hoped we'd go for a Mata/Silva type for that position.

It's a pity how people on the site have been raving about Dzagoev for a while. So many clubs could've gotten him before the Euros. Except his price tag just went up by 10 million pounds, I reckon. Similar story with Eriksen about a year ago. We really need to get our act together as far as scouting talent is concerned.

Mateo Kovacic of Zagreb is one we should be looking at. In a year or two, he's going to be as unattainable as Dzagoev or Eriksen.

As understand it Rodgers relies on inverted wingers, or wingers who cut in more than go wide, using the wing backs for width overlapping whilst the two 'wingers', cut inside & the the third am & forward stretch the defence & pull them out of position.

That tells me Gerrard could be used on the left or centre AM easily, it also tells me we need better at the left wing back position, Johnson is perfect on the right.

Suarez should able to do the right or left am/winger position easily, an 'in between the lines' player behind striker is key to really stretch defenders, & something Swansea seemed to miss.

They're very hard to come by.

he looks totally slow and average. charlie adam-esque without the great left foot.

what the fuck am i missing?

Come on. this guy has been playing under Rodgers for both Reading and Swansea!!!! What other proof do you need. Ok he doesn't have the pace, the extreme skills or a good foot... But none of our midfielders bar Gerrard have that anyway!

Mark has it spot on although Enrique will be fine for now, we've bigger positions to worry about. Kagawa would have been so perfect it hurts, he was exactly what we need, that someone to thread balls through and carry a threat. Maybe Sig can become that player, who knows, Eriksen would be lovely though.

that's not very comforting.

Babb was captain of Coventry before coming to us and as said had a superb World cup.
I wonder if was it was the culture at the time at the club, that destroyed him as a player, as up till him coming to us he looked like an excellent prospect

True.

I beg to differ with regards to Kagawa mate as I believe Brendan are looking to play a more possesion minded game than what we've seen over the past years. Obviously he would have been a great buy for us but if we pretend we don't have limited funds I'd look elsewhere first.

What we need then is more of a playmaker-type in the Xavi/Iniesta mould imo. Kagawa from what I know likes to run at defenders and make himself available through deep surging runs whereas I believe what we need is a more ball-containing midfielder that'll get us to dictate play. Gylfi is more like that player and there are obviously others like Modric, Sneijder, Özil and Eriksen - available or not.

The little i've seen of Kagawa suggests he's more of a Silva player, he likes to thread balls through the defence, an attacking playmaker, which is exactly what I think we need.

Some reports suggesting that Martin may be available for 8 million. We'd be crazy not to try if that's the case.

Sahin on loan is also a very exciting option.

We wil have to wait and see, I've simply not seen enough of him to say that assessment is wrong.

What Martin is that? I'm confused.
