Gareth Bale

Not all to pleased to see him being described as a shoe in for player of the year tbh, he has had a great run in the last month or so but biased though I am i genuinely feel Luis has been the best player this season.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/fo...gh-to-win-the-Player-of-the-Season-award.html

RVP has shat goals all year but he is at Man U and things don't get much more conducive than that for a striker, Bale is fantastic but has he put it in on as consistent a basis as Suarez throughout the season? I don't think so.

2 things count against Luis obviously, his reputation primarily and also he doesn't play for a bunch of shandy poofters within a short bus ride from the newspapers office in London.

I really hope lil Luis bangs a hat-trick in against them when they come.... biased bunch of southern press cunts.

Shoe in indeed.... ffs...

Ha ha hahaahahahahaha

Bale is great and is in tremendous form, but he was off the boil for a while, RVP and Suarez have done it all season.

Would love Luis to get it. Can just see the talksport phone in now. Does Suarez deserve it as he is scum.

Not sure why everyone thinks Bale is a cunt. He comes across nice and humble in interviews and yes he isn't going to replace Beckham in any of his modelling contracts with that face but neither is Luis. You are being harsh you good looking bastards.

I've seen this mentioned a few times now, but it's hard to see it when I go back and look at the match summaries. Bale has been a consistent scorer for Spurs, never going goalless in more than a 3-game stretch (all competitions). He did have three 3-game stretches when he went goalless - at the start of the season, the beginning of November, and the middle of January. When he didn't score, he was still providing assists in 2 of the 9 games in that stretch.

Suarez had his own dry patch from late November to December (after his purple patch from October to November), going goalless for 7 out of 8 games (he was a sub in one of those games). In that stretch, he missed 7 attempts each against Stoke, Villa and Spurs; and we ended up losing all those games. Suarez also failed to score in a recent 3-game stretch against Zenit (away), West Brom and City.

What I'm trying to say is, if one describes Bale as having gone off the boil for a period, then the same should apply to Suarez.

The reason I dislike him so, after all the Spurs fans ingraving a hatred of him in me, is for how he acted in the 0-0 at Anfield last year. He dived, sulked, and acted like he was too good to tackled and harassed by our defenders, like we should have stood back and let him play his magical game, god he made my blood boil that match. When he first moved to Spurs I quite liked him, but Spurs fans have an uncanny way of making you hate everything associated to that club.

Actually, I've had a rethink - since the voting is for Player of the Year, then it's only Suarez or Van Persie. Van Persie carried Arsenal in the first half of 2012 (i.e. second half of last season), and added to what he's done for the Mancs this season, will make as deserving a winner as Suarez. Bale has been phenomenal this season, but he wasn't at this scary level yet in the first half of 2012.

There's your answer.

Is this right? Surely it can't be. I haven't even looked at it but does it really refer to a calendar year?

I think Bale will do it and I'd have no problem with the voting if he did. He's been remarkable, IMO, for a lot longer than 2 or 3 months. When Modric left I thought that was the end of Spurs as a top 4 threat. In fact they seem even better and that's mostly due to Bale. I think he's harder to shut down than Suarez. RVP, as lethal as he is, relies a lot on his team mates to create for him. Bale can do it all himself from almost anywhere on the field. Not only can he do it but he's been doing it pretty regularly for about 7 months now.

That's how I see it too Wizardry.

No matter where Bale picks up the ball on the pitch he looks a huge threat.
19 goals for a wide player in Feb is superb.

Exactly, he's been awesome and would deserve the player of the year if he gets it. Superb player who has gone from the spurs jinx to their lifesaver. He can score from out of nowhere and his second against west ham was phenomenal.

What are peoples thoughts on AVB now? He seems to be doing a decent job.
He would have done a decent job at Chelsea too had he been given the time. He's a good manager in my eyes, and considering his age you'd fancy him to improve as he gets the experience

I was wondering about that the other week. He had a pretty uncertain start, no doubt took some confidence in the manc result but seems to be doing well. Would be interested in the comments of those who watch Spurs a bit (Mystic, you're excused) as to whether he can change the pattern of a game when needed. One thing is the Spurs of old would have been lacking in consistency. He's got them in a habit of winning games.

I remember thinking that they should've done it for the season too, but the shortlists are out in Feb or Mar, and the results are out in April, before the season is over, so the period of consideration basically covers parts of both seasons I think. I'll see if I can find some article on this anomaly.

Its kind of hard to tell as Bale has carried them so much. Whenever they've struggled he's been pulling it out of the hat for them. They still seem vulnerable to pace with their high line though. He does have a very good squad though and their midfield is strong.

They win because of Bale though. Hasnt he scored all goals but one in the last 6 games or something.

Chicken or egg. Are the players(Bale) better because of their manager, or is the manager getting better results because of the players(Bale).

It's probably a bit of both. Bale may well have improved vastly this term under any manager, but if a manager doesn't provide the right environment for the players to flourish, then I don't think it will happen.

In my opinion, if Spurs manage to get third, it will be as much down to AVB getting it right, as it is Bale. Obviously the timing of having the third best player in the world won't have harmed him, but we have one of the best two, and we're in 8th.

Could be. I'm just saying I havent been that impressed by Spurs this season. But fair play to him for getting the best out of Bale.

Adebayor looks a cunt of a transfer. Dembele and Verthongen have been good.
I like AVB and wanted us to go for him before we got Rodgers.
Will be interesting to see how they develop under him. Hopefully Bale will move on and out of this league.

If anything it shows how over rated Arry was.
4 years no trophy and one top 4 finish with probably a better squad than Villas Boas.
The Redknapp love-in was the most sickening things in modern footy.

Ouch!

That's a good point.

He finished top 4, twice and took over a club that had were bottom with 2 points after 8 games.

I hope BR is that over rated too.

What has it got to do with Rodgers?
But please do continue to watch SSN and believe every word they say.

The spurs squad that had 2 points was awful. Harry brought in loads of world class talent to get them out the shit...... Oh

It's quite disturbing just how fucking boss Bale is at the minute. Horrible. I hate Spurs but watching that game the other night I just thought fuck it, I'm gonna just enjoy watching this motherfucker own this match.
