Borini's shit

This thread is worse. We've got sterling, Gerrard, also chipping in goals... We're so much better off in terms of flair than in a long time

Of course. Wait and see before you judge prematurely. Yes we do need another striker, but the new kid just signed, the winger from Holland borini, Suarez, Sahin, sterling, - so much positive stuff, let's hold off the judgement until we see the goal tally..

Borini just had his 1st season in top flight football last season.

Sterling is only starting to make his mark in the 1st team.

Sahin's best return was a goal in 5 matches while Gerrard last hit double figures (in all matches for entire season) in 2009/10.

Assaidi averaged 1 in 3 for past 2 seasons but came from league which many writes off - whenever goalscorers from Dutch Eredivisie were mentioned.

Last season was Allen's best return of 1 goal in every 9 games too.

Of the names mentioned, at least 3 are new to the league and 1 is ageing.

We all know about Suarez's finishing. Simply put, we lack experience and goal scoring options.

Apologies, not trying to be a pessimist but thats a genuine issue.

Type more, bold less.

It's bollocks, a lack of goals will hurt us at times this season, but you have to accept that there's only so much you can do in one window with a fairly modest amount of funds. I said at the time, and I still stand by it, that Dalglish did more long term damage to the club than Roy ever did. It's going to be at least another two transfers windows before that mess is cleared up.

Hopefully we'll have someone lined up for January. At least now we'll have time to prepare for someone who fits the system, rather than panic buying.

Unfortunately I have to agree with that.
I've always adored and will always love the king, but he should have never accepted the job after those first 6 months. He should have made way and be remembered as the saviour who took us off the floor after Roy was sacked.
His transfer deals were just horrible and we're witnessing their impact, and will probably will feel it for a while.

Although Kenny has his fault, but I like how the fans put all the blame on him for the misfortunate transfer last season.

Borini is not 'shit'. What an embarrassing comment that is. His movement is brilliant, and having only just turned 21, he'll get better and better.

It's premature certainly. And we absolutely need him not to be shit

The second half of that first para.is highly slanted and owes not a little to the fact that you championed Roy all along. He spent a good deal less time in charge, so (thankfully) never had the chance to do the long-term damage he almost certainly would have done if he'd been allowed to continue. He made a pretty good start on that as it was, leaving us barely above the relegation places. Kenny at least put that right and got us to two Cup finals, winning one of them. His transfers have unquestionably worked out poorly, but even on your own terms - the accuracy of which, to say the very least, remains to be seen - another two transfer windows will take us no further than this time next year.

Borini will start banging them in once Rodgers educates Suarez enough so he finally learns when to pass the ball to a team mate who is in a better scoring position.

Either that or Rodgers starts playing him through the middle. I really think he'd excel for us there with his movement and players like Sahin, Gerrard and Allen picking him out.

Where did all these SOS mongs come from.
Hands up who thought all of our problems from the past 5 years could be solved in ONE window?
Hands up if you think these owners who spent 100m last year are shysters because they didnt throw another 100m at it this year?
Hands up if you wanted young promising players?
Hands up if you understand that we are now rebuilding and shipping out Kuyt, Bellamy, Aquilani, Aurelio etc was the key to freeing up our LONG TERM spending.
Hands up who thinks the signings of Borini, Allen, Sahin and Assaidi represent good value and long term positive investment? (Sahin if we keep him obviously)

I totally understand the feeling of dejection that we didnt get a striker, but I personally didnt think it would end perfectly this window. We've taken step one.
There are more steps to go to get back to the top.
And all the decrying about what we have lost is bonkers, Kuyt, Bellamy, Carroll etc got about 10 goals last year.
Assaidi, Borini, Cole, Sterling and Sahin could do that and then some this year.
I dont think its panic stations to be honest.
Hope im right.

The term 'SOS mongs' gets a 'like' from me. Disappointed there wasn't more money available for a top striker, and that does fall down to FSG, but happy with the signings we did get.

Point taken Herr but I guess you may have a different attitude when Suarez gets injured or suspended. I dont think Borini is crap tbh but hes not going to be the answer this season - we are is shit creek if and when Suarez doesnt play.

We took step one, but have gone backwards in the last 2 days. That was the main worries. Nobody is expecting a miracle from one transfer window, but we could have done better.

Mongs? Classy. If it wasn't for those mongs getting off their arse and doing something we'd still be lumbered with the last owners. You might not agree with that or another point of view but class people as mongs because of it? Pretty sad.

So by my reckoning you're looking for someone with five hands. More chance of finding one than signing a striker.

Mate i know its not ideal.
I know that. But i think personally Rodgers wanted to sort the middle of the park out first (we know hes a student of the spanish game) and he thinks that that is the most important thing. Sahin/Allen/Lucas/Gerrard vs Adam/Henderson/Gerrard last year.
If that works we create more and hopefully Suarez/Borini/Assaidi/Downing/Sterling score more.
I think Striker back up was less important to him. Thats why we left it until today.

If he's genuinely happy about how things have gone he must be a fucking loony. I bet he's furious.

Yeah yeah. It was your t-shirts that got the last owners out. Not in any way the fact they couldnt pay off their debt.
Mong.
