Andy Carroll In Danger Yo !

Spot on Didi. Yes he improved, but lets be honest it was practically impossible to get any worse. he's an alright player, but not who we need if we want to challenge for top 4. His passing is poor, movement is diarohea and football intelligence even worse. I was gutted when i heard we signed him and almost fainted when i heard the fee.

Way over the top.

I think Rogers is intent on giving most players a chance to adapt and improve their game provided their attitude and commitment are beyond reproach. So I suspect he will judge Carroll based on that in the first instance.

I don't think Carroll's game is as poorly suited to Rogers game as some of you think. His passing is surprisingly good but his movement, which is third division, will need enormous work. He'll have to show he's prepared to work his bollocks off and listen to coaching staff on that to have any chance of a future under Rogers.

Aren't you trying to have it both ways, gene? How can Carroll's game be better suited to Rodgers' style than some of us think, if his movement - a vital part of a striker's play - is third division? Don't those two things cancel each other out?

Way over the top.
not really. he's just not my type of player and never has been. he had a few good games near the end, but seriously Im shocked by his poor movement. its like he skipped football 101 and has depended on brute strength and his size for too long. there's a reason why west ham are the only team to really want him.

Come on Glen, that's ridiculously biased in favour of your views on him. There's been a tenuous link with the Hammers and a tenuous link with Milan, let's take the former one seriously though because they said they might consider loaning him if available - even though the whole idea of him being available on loan came from Milan in the first place!

He's an early 20's lad with alot of potential. He might not suit our system ultimately, but he's got ALOT of qualities despite his obvious flaws. He just scored a cracking header at the Euro's, made a massive difference in the run-in games and is, confidence and form wise, on the up. When he was at Newcastle he was unplayable at times. I'm not adverse to many of your points you've made about him, but you've gone way overboard and made him sound like Geoff fucking Horsefield.

I'd be extremely disappointed if were to sell Carroll now. To be completely honest I'd lose some of the faith I've so far mustered with regards to Rodgers.

Carroll can be a beast of a player for most teams imo. He's far better on the ball that many gives him credit for and he can score goals from outside the box, inside the box and in the air. Like from everywhere. Give the lad some faith and he'll deliver.

There's not ONE good reason to sell him at this moment in time especially with regards to 're-sell' value being around 1/2 - 1/3 of what we initially paid. We need to stop all this fucking around with players going in and out all the time (and managers too) and to be honest when posters like Ryan etc. are talking about 'he should've proved himself in 18 months' it makes me wonder why the likes of Lucas; Skrtel etc. were all given such a leach from the same posters despite looking well below par for several Season.

Fair enough if you don't like the cut of his jib but really it would make little sense to ship him of now, after a decent Euros and more than encouraging end of last Season.

Lucas and Skrtel did not look well below par for several seasons. Lucas had a difficult, underwhelming first few years, but only cost £6m, Skrtel had a great start to his career and has had one dodgy season. I don't know why you feel the need to make out he's been some sort of clown who's had one good season.

Well you could make the argument that it might not be the worst time to sell him after a decent little spell of form, especially if we're short of money and the manager doesn't see a major role in his plans for him. In that case he's unlikely to play well or often enough for his value to really appreciate and all the while you're holding him in place of a player the manager really does want.

Exactly. The room for error with him now is a lot smaller than it was for people like Lucas, because he cost thirty five fucking million. It's not his fault but the fact is, he wasn't worth the fee and we're losing money on him, we're also paying him massive wages which is going to be a big factor when deciding whether he's worth paying as an option. I like him, I rate him but I can see why we could sell him.

Lucas was horrendously mediocre for several Seasons Mark, scapegoat of the Season for several Seasons even, and yet posters on here defended him. Right or wrong. Skrtel imo wasn't cut for the standard either for several Seasons but both have improved no end. We'll never agree on this matter mind.

Anyways I don't want us to sell Carroll. Period. If we do I hope Rodgers has at least seen him up close at training before deciding.

So he wasn't cut for the standard the season he kept Agger out the side for months and we finished 2nd?

Carroll obviously isn't worth what ever money we splashed for him. At this point in time.

However the question is, do you believe he could indeed prove value for us in the future. In my opinion there is no doubt that he could turn out to the be £30M striker we all hoped for. Even in a possession-based team, perhaps even more so.

I don't care about fees, salaries etc., all I care for is us to go forward and in my opinion Carroll could be a vital cog in that forward-going vessel. I didn't mean to disrespect any player in the team just irritated me a little to see posters wanting Carroll out.

I think there's only a few who actively want him out, most of us can just see why we might sell. He cost us alot of money and is continuing to do so, if he's going to end up playing second fiddle to someone, for the money we might get and the wages he's on, we may aswell sell while we can still get a reasonable sum.

I can actually see the case for loaning him out, too. If he went somewhere more suitable he might well add £5m+ to his value, although obviously it's a trade-off against having the money to spend now.

I agree with our Danish lad, we shouldnt sell Carroll...
Granted, he was never worth 35M but how much are we going to recoup? 15-20m tops...to buy who?
The lad will become a decent dtriker, the signs are here.
Its a no for me

If Agger's legs, back and forehead had been a little less broken/fractured/swollen he had played Mark, I bet he had.

*That's me trying to make fun of a subject I can't be bothered to dig into again.

WE AGREE TO DISAGREE ON THE OMEN THAT IS SKRTEL!

NEXT BEER IS ON ME!

I don't think we have ever agreed on anything before apart from cheering Liverpool on?!

I will now pop open a chilled beer out of sheer glee 🙂

Well I suppose that's where people will always differ. Imo there's no doubt that he *won't* turn into a £30m player.

As for who we'd spend the money on - well, Borini, for a start. If Rodgers sees him as a better option then in effect we're better off even if we only got enough for Carroll to cover that fee.

If we sell Carroll we'll probably spend wisely and buy Bendtner. Is that what you guys want?

IS IT?

Sounds like we have sounded him out to several clubs. He's finished.

I think its a massive mistake, but Rodgers need to do whats right for his set up.
His problem at Reading was that he changed everything at once. Hopefully he's learned from that experience.
