Andy Carroll In Danger Yo !

This might have been said already but i dont get all this he wont fit in with our new stlye of play, well why did BR play Danny Graham then he is no fucking better than Andy Carroll.
When i used to go and watch Carlisle from time to time i never rated Danny Graham that much then so how did he fit in with BR style of play!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think it's more a question of what players he has, and can have, at his disposal.
Swansea was not his ideal team nor environment.
He feels he can get a way better image of his philosophy transferred onto the pitch.
Andy Carrol is not what he has in mind, though he's still young and can learn a lot from Rodgers if he's willing.
None of this confidence bollocks please. Just get on with it. Should be confident enough when one of the biggest clubs in the world is willing to spend 80k per week on you.

Which is what I keep saying.

I just hope Rodgers is in contact with Carroll to explain what bollocks this is. The last thing we need is that confidence knocked.

Guys, are you two taking the piss?

Rodgers was asked directly "is Carroll in your plans?" and he couldn't have avoided the answer more. Watch the video ffs. 37 seconds in.

I appreciate the 'need to evaluate everyone in the squad' piece, but we're talking about a striker we paid 35 million pounds for 18 months ago, not some fucking joker off the street. Rodgers would have known full well his lack of a response would lead to headlines, so he didn't avoid the question for the fucking fun of it.

You're both being very very naive. If he was part of his plans, he'd have said so.

Amazing the variety of articles that have spawned from a couple of sentences in a press conference.

Here's what I got from the same comments: Andy's a good player. As such he will be linked to other clubs. He has the chance to earn a place in the team. He has been told that. We'll see how that goes..

Yup, and some people who said the comments were meaningless at the time now are convinced Carroll is going.

If we loan Carroll out it's an absurd disgrace. Nothing short of a permanent deal will do.

If we sell him - anything short of 20m is a disgrace. And I'd not blink if we sold him.

IMO this is not a great start for Rogers he has handled this terribly.

Andy needs to stay, he is just getting it right FFS. Swansea had a big fella in the middle up top didn't they so what's the issue

If, & I'm not convinced, if, he's said this withintention of 'come & get him' to other clubs, it's due to off the field issues.

Graham is a poor man's Carroll & suited Swansea, no reason why Carroll wouldn't fit our system.

Rodgers had to compromise himself a bit more at Swansea though and make do with some of the players he had. He arguably has to do that less here.

Is it really surprising that rodgers would think that carroll isn't his type of player? Rodgers wants to play the spanish way with short passing, intelligence and movement. All the things carroll can't do very well. Carroll would be better suited at teams like villa, sunderland, west ham, stoke type teams that will put plenty of crosses in the box for him. I hope we get rid.

Could be both though. Either kick up the backside or not wanting him the squad. That presser gives no definte answer.

Andy wants to stay and fight, and a loan move wont happen according to Echo journos.
If someon bid 15 mill we'll prob accept. But who will do that??

It does leave alot to be answered. If someone asked the same about Suarez, I doubt Rodger's answer would have been the same, infact he's already issued a "he's going nowhere" quote, without having the so called benefit of watching him train and seeing how he fits into the system he wants to use. As vague as he was, that's really the point, he didn't come out and say "he's staying here", he raised question marks, deliberately IMO, to raise interest.

Agreed. I think however its a massive mistake not to give him a chance. He should have played in a lot more games under Kenny at the end of last season. And was one of our better players.
We wont get our money back. So why not give him 6 months to show what he can do?
Hopefully its to give him an impression of that his career here is on the line.

If we let him go, we have to sign a new striker aswell. Cant see us having the neccessary funds to get a top top striker.

Because Hansern, we're not in the business of giving out 6 months of games so players "can show what they can do".

Especially after they've had 18 months to show that.

We're in the business of winning games.

We're trying to get back into it the business of winning games is more correct.
Taking a 20 mill hit on a 23 year old player who have been improving greatly for the last 4-6 months is not the way forward imho.

I think Rogers is intent on giving most players a chance to adapt and improve their game provided their attitude and commitment are beyond reproach. So I suspect he will judge Carroll based on that in the first instance.

I don't think Carroll's game is as poorly suited to Rogers game as some of you think. His passing is surprisingly good but his movement, which is third division, will need enormous work. He'll have to show he's prepared to work his bollocks off and listen to coaching staff on that to have any chance of a future under Rogers.

People are automatically assuming if we keep him his fee will go up in 6-12 months, it is just as likely to decrease even further aswell.

THANK YOU

ESPN has now learnt that Carroll, 23, is determined to prove himself on Merseyside. A source said: "Andy is on holiday, and when he returns he is sure to seek clarification about his future with the new Liverpool manager.

"So there won't be anything for around ten days until that conversation takes place. It's all very well having discussions on the phone, but this requires a face to face.

"The feeling is that Andy won't leave Liverpool because he is proud to be a Liverpool player and wants to prove to the manager that he is capable of fitting into his system. It might be that the manager doesn't think Andy will fit in, but Andy wants to prove that he can.

"Andy knows he will get his chance, and when he does he wants to take it. So his immediate thoughts are to stay and prove himself capable of adapting to a new style of play. But it is early days, and we shall have to wait and see how it all unfolds."

Didi Hamann ‏@DietmarHamann
I don't know what gave Oliver Holt the impression that Carroll will have a big impact next season he was badly out his depth as many others

Spot on Didi. Yes he improved, but lets be honest it was practically impossible to get any worse. he's an alright player, but not who we need if we want to challenge for top 4. His passing is poor, movement is diarohea and football intelligence even worse. I was gutted when i heard we signed him and almost fainted when i heard the fee.

Yes but BR bought Danny Graham for Swansea from Watford

Indeed, he's visibly improving for us (but this will have its limits), coming off a positive tournament with Engerland, but he'll never be worth 35M. If you can get 20/25 back NOW it would be good business, cutting your losses, and reinvesting in a safer striking bet. I don;t think the judges are in on Andy yet, and I am surprised Brendan Rodgers is saying these things since the lad isn't even in the fold yet. If there's a move to move him on, it's definitely coming from the highest levels..

Which kind of excites me if it is, it means there's a ruthless winning mentality, not a nice guy, we'll tolerate "averageness" kind of approach, which has happened in the recent past at our club

I think even if he reaches something like the level he reached at Newcastle, his flaws have become all too apparent.

Yeah I agree Localny. Good point and my 6 months of trying to fit him into a system could decrease his value.

Dont think anyone would offer more than 15 mill. Who can pay that money though? Newcastle, Sunderland, West Ham maybe. Interest will be limited and we'll take a massive massive loss with this transfer.

Ben Smith just answered a tweet about us offloading Carroll with, we're trying...
