"Roma’s Italian international forward Fabio Borini is expected to become Rodgers’ first signing, with the idea he will play on the right of a three-man strikeforce"

Interesting. So it'll be Borini, Suarez and someone else.

Bellamy/Sterling hopefully...

Imagine having to play against any of those four - the movement, the pace, trickery, awareness of others. The defenders wouldn't be given a moments rest.

Borini suarez and CARROLL YOU SCREAMING BUNCH OF WOMEN

*joins fff in the sand*

Could be an absolute brilliant tactical motivation move by Brendan, so that Carroll knows what so on the line.

I hope so at least.

Amazing the variety of articles that have spawned from a couple of sentences in a press conference.

Here's what I got from the same comments: Andy's a good player. As such he will be linked to other clubs. He has the chance to earn a place in the team. He has been told that. We'll see how that goes..

Julian Draxler

Dunken Jenkins mentions him

Anyone seen him play

I wasn't impressed tbh. Competent in possession but not amazing. Still, he's only a youngun so I imagine I'm being needlessly critical

And I DEFINITELY have watched him play

18 years old. That lad will be a superstar.

If not he can be a villain in a James Bond movie. Ace name!

He was almost in the German Euro 2012 squad too, not bad for an 18 year old competing against some of the best players in the world. I haven't watched him mind.

18 months later and i still can't get over it . 35 fucking million for Andy Carroll . And before anyone comes out with shite like "the price tag doesn't matter , what's done is done" .....here we are still hoping he finally comes good , still debating if he can play in a semi decent style of football and in a position that even if we do want rid, the best we'll probably get is someone taking him on loan . Fair enough it's not his fault we spent what we did but for this transfer alone you could argue Comolli and Dalglish deserved the sack . Actually throw Downing , Henderson and Adam on top and it's one of the biggest clusterfuck periods of spending out there .

Sam Allardyce wants to sign Liverpool's Andy Carroll for West Ham

• West Ham believed to want England striker on loan
• Permanent transfer for £15m could follow

Sam Allardyce is believed to be about to make a bid for Liverpool's England striker Andy Carroll. West Ham are proposing an initial loan with a view to buying the 23-year-old for around £15m who signed from Newcastle United for £35m in January, 2011.
West Ham, returning to the Premier League after their relegation last year, may face opposition for Carroll from a number of other clubs after reports emerged suggesting Liverpool had let it be known that they were willing to listen to offers for the player.
Brendan Rodgers, the Liverpool manager, said on Monday that the possibility of loaning Carroll is "something I would have to look at" although he did indicate that he would give the forward time to see if he would fit into his plans at Anfield.

3 things:

1 - A 20M loss on a player 18 months after signing him would be fucking disgusting.
2 - He'd be perfect for them.
3 - And then we'll have to listen to a multitude of fucking blerts crying about how we shoulbn't have let him go, and in doing so completely missing the point that he's better suited to Big Sam's industrial style of football, and that he was never right for us from day one anyway.

we're fucked whatever we do in regards to how people view our handling of this, if we keep him we'll still be a laughing stock for having andy carrol, if we sell him we'll be lauded as the twats that got rid when he showed some pick up of form, so i dont really give a fuck what the cunt-tards of the internet and press say

I've said he's a decent player, and still think so, but not for us.

And I said all that from day one.

That's cause you literally copied what I wrote on him when we signed him.

That said it's a decision with no right answer for Rodgers and two alternate scenarios will get played out:

  1. We sell Carroll for about 15m now. He will have a significantly improved season next season and will look like a 20 - 25m striker. The media (and plenty of fans) will keep using it as a stick to smash the manager with because he clearly doesn't understand how to manage transfers.
  2. We keep Carroll and his form will make him a 20 - 25m proposition for any team interested in signing him. However, the team doesn't develop the way Rodgers wants and essentially puts us one year behind in his project to develop the team. He will be constantly canned by the media (and some fans) for playing a striker who doesn't fit with our style of play.
The 64 dollar question to be asked right now is whether Carroll, playing well, could be the source of goals to put us into a top 4 position and CL. If so, should Rodgers effectively allow the project to be delayed in order to achieve that short term success of top 4?

Personally I think he's the wrong type of player for the football Dalglish wanted to play and the same is true for Rodgers. However, he does provide a "cutting edge" which I fear we are going to lack next season during the reformation of the team. Let's face it, Barca and Spain have both appeared to huff and puff with no effect on occasions despite the fact they're the "finished product". I expect to see us being less effective in the final third during the formative stages of this project and that's going to frustrate us as fans no end. Carroll would provide that "edge" when the team is struggling which could prove very important to give the manager the support he needs both amongst the fans and at the board room table.

Pffft, aye cos that's what I do around here.

Rodgers didn't say a loan for Carroll was something he'd have to look at - he said that about loans in general. Typical twisting of the truth.

Which is what I keep saying.

I just hope Rodgers is in contact with Carroll to explain what bollocks this is. The last thing we need is that confidence knocked.

Whatever exactly he said, imo it's pretty clear from his tone in the press conference and reports in the press that there are major question marks over Carroll's future. Certainly more than just being part of the normal assessment process by a new manager.

This might have been said already but i dont get all this he wont fit in with our new stlye of play, well why did BR play Danny Graham then he is no fucking better than Andy Carroll.
When i used to go and watch Carlisle from time to time i never rated Danny Graham that much then so how did he fit in with BR style of play!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think this could be a kick up the back side for when Carroll retruns to pre-season, so he doesnt rest on his laurels.

If he comes back unfit/half arsed, then BR may get rid and Dempsey would be his replacement
