Things we were very wrong about in 2024

I still think Chiesa was worth that fee as a gamble, but every match he misses makes it seem more and more like a bad bet

I was leaning more towards letting Mo go (although i never committed fully as I didn't rate the rest of our forwards- see below), and i didnt think he was capable of a season like this anymore, so I was definitely wrong about that.

I was leaning towards replacing Konate as well. That might be a very incorrect instinct if he can become a little less injury prone.

I avoided a few of the more common pitfalls. I knew nothing about Slot, so i didnt make any rash decisions on him. Likewise I thought Gravy needed time. I had my suspicions about Nunez from season 1.

I really wanted Lenny Yoro this summer but not for the fee and wages Utd paid in the end. So far it looks like a bullet dodged. He has been really bad for them and I cant figure out if its just him being at the wrong place at the wrong time or if he just isnt as talented as half the footballing World thought. Probably a bit of both. Although it doesn't help being shoe horned into a 3 at the back when you have been playing as a CB in a back 4 up until now.

Another promising career about to be ruined at United.

He's still a kid and he made a terrible decision joining them. He's been thrown into the deep end in a severely dysfunctional club.
It's mismanagement imo.

I was wrong about Diaz, he's been mustard. He's still no Mane but he's at a level I didn't think he had in him.

Gakpo too I'd say. I loved him the other night, a real threat.

I didn't know who Slot was before we got him so I can't say that I was right or wrong tbh. But fuck me no-one's complaining with that one.

I have to agree with fellow posters above who still rate Yoro. So do I and I was quietly hoping we'd sign him ourselves before Quansah emerged. He'll survive the sh!tstorm at that club and have a good career IMO. Whether he does it there or elsewhere remains to be seen.
