Pre Match Pre Match - Saints (A) - Worthington Cup QF - Weds 20:00

Gravenberch 4 yellows
Konate 4 yellows
Nunez 4 yellows ( who cares
Gravenberch 4 yellows, Agreed is a serious concern.
Konate 4 yellows, Unlikely to get back before our 19th EPL game.
Nunez 4 yellows, Not in the best form of his ( or anyone elses ) career and we have plenty of options up front.

Freddy was weird.

At times he was moving like he had shite dripping down his legs.

Then most of the time on the ball was pretty classy.

Hopefully he just needs to sharpen up with more minutes and first teamers around him.

Thought his last 10-15 mins were excellent attacking wise. Has some work to do defensively and toughen up a bit. But promising.

Useful minutes for Chiesa Nyoni & Morton.

Nicely played by Slot. If he does same in semis it should help get these players into form

Can't imagine that Mo will be worrying too much about any shite underfoot in an area of the pitch that he usually occupies. 🤣🤣

There is actual light at the end of this (current) tunnel with players returning from injuries and suspensions. Hopefully no more long tunnels and a significant signing (or 2) in the next few weeks.🤞

I've been wondering for a while if he should surpass Nunez in the line up. Hopefully he gets a chance. How was Nyoni?
I love watching Danns and he has a very bright future (hopefully at a very high standard that enables him to stay with us) however there's no chance in hell he'll surpass Nunez (which would substantially lower his value). Danns is at least a season away from breaking into the first team squad, Nunez will be gone by the time he does.

Those easily satisfied though he was good. Personally I thought this a night and day performance compared to his U21 games. He was tidy on the ball and with his passing but hardly played a forward pass all night, just retaining possession. He was caught on the ball badly once which instigated a dangerous Southampton attack.

There were none of the attacking runs or adventure or passing that we've come to associate with him when playing for the U21s - maybe Slot's mantra of retaining possession affected him too much. I was disappointed.

I thought we looked poor in the second half.
They seemed to win the major duels.
When we got the ball we were dispossessed quickly. We were fortunate to win

great description, that’s exactly how i thought he looked walking down the stairs in last weeks training video.

he could just be one of those people that moves strangely with a hint of caveman

I surprised Endo went under the radar for some. He was doing everything for a large swathe of the game, and was the glue holding a ragbag of a team together. Great to see the Boy getting time on the pitch again too and showing his quality.

Big clap on the back for Slot who gave zero fucks in this game and just about got away with it. His priorities are bang on.

The Carabao Cup semi-final ties will take place over two legs across the week commencing 6 January and the week commencing 3 February for a spot in the final at Wembley Stadium.
