Andy Carroll In Danger Yo !

If Andy Carroll still played for Newcastle would anyone want us this summer to go and spend 20M on him?

15-20 mill is a fair price for him. Its what we should have paid 18 months ago. Spurs bid 23 mill and we came flying in with 30 and later 35. Comolli also trippeled his wages.
Deserves a medal that man.....

i imagine he got his bidding skills from an episode of futurama

"One jillion dollars!"

"sir thats not a number"

only way i can see Carroll being of any use is as a plan B. no way will he be a part of plan A. but that is one very expensive super sub. but i get the feeling Rodgers, like wenger, doesn't want a plan b. swansea biggest failing last season was that they had no plan b when they couldn't break teams with their passing.

If we could flog Robbie Keane off for a 5 million loss then we can recoup at least 20 for Carroll.

I am with Fox on this, lack of any worthwhile news, us being very tight lipped and the press wanting to have a fucking pop at us all the time these days.
I bet he will be here at the start. He could depending on how things go, go on loan in Jan

regards

i think he'll be here as he'll want to fight for his place and not being able to get the fee we want, but i think if Rodgers could he would sell him.

But do you seriously doubt he's on thin ice? It seems from memory that whenever press reports are as consistent as this then there's more than a bit of truth to it.

Tbh though the press conference alone is enough for me. He could hardly have been less enthusiastic.

I agree that it's pretty baseless at the moment. He could still go before this window closes, but I don't believe that any decision has been made about selling him.
Perhaps it's naivety on my part, but I actually believe Mr Rodgers when he says that Andy has a chance to prove himself and he knows where he stands.

I reckon Andy's been told what's expected of him when he returns and that he isn't guaranteed a place at this stage.

Watch the press conference again. In Rodgers' mind he's gone already.

It's just a matter of getting enough for him/wages paid on loan.

How come he didn't gush over Carroll the way he did about Suarez ?

Liverpool's manager, Brendan Rodgers, is confident he can fend off any interest in the striker Luis Suárez.
The Italian champions Juventus are reportedly ready to make a move for the Uruguay international if they get any indication he is unhappy on Merseyside.
However Rodgers is adamant the 25-year-old, who was banned for eight matches last season after a race row with the Manchester United defender Patrice Evra, wants to be part of things at Anfield and the club are keen to tie him down to a new deal. His present one runs to 2016.
"I've had a brilliant chat with Luis," said the manager. "He's really looking forward to being here and we are obviously hoping that we can get him on to another new contract. He's really looking forward to the new season."

He didn't say none of that shit re: Big Andeh.

Just sayin'....

Carroll hasn't had a sit down chat with Rodgers yet, I imagine Luis has

Erm Suarez is in Uruguay training with the Olympic squad. So how could they have met?

Perhaps he doesn't feel the same way about Andy as he does about Luis? Why would he have to gush over him for my scenario to work?

He didn't say Luis had a chance, he said we are obviously hoping to keep him here for a long time.

I don't get this. Would it be fair to say that almost all, if not all, of us on this forum want Luis to be here a long time?
Would it be fair to also say that the forum is pretty split about Carroll, and even his fervent supporters are saying that he needs to show more (but they believe he is capable of doing it)?

So why is it such a stretch to think that Mr Rodgers feels the same way? Suarez is safe. Andy has to prove himself.

Erm, you're in Sweden and I'm in South Africa. How the hell could we have had a chat?

If you have something called a telephone, we could even have a chat where you would hear my voice from all the way up there!

Luis probably had the time to talk to Rodgers, whereas carroll was on am international tournament, and might not want his head up his arse worrying about his position.
Now he's on holiday. When he returns they'll talk properly

To similar extent?

It's hypothetical to say the conversations were the same (and I know I'm guilty to say they're different).

Until he's sold, he's a big part of next season for me, and I refuse to acknowledge he's going

I think the obvious way of looking at this is......... we're signing two strikers, ergo, I don't think that leaves too much room for guess work regards Carroll. I can't see us blowing £20m on Borini-ho and Dempsey for one of them to be behind Suarez, Carroll AND the other in the pecking order. I think he's gone.

If we're going to play 4-3-3 as everyone seems to be sure of, surely having at least 4 good forwards to choose from is a must?

Because we're not allowed depth?

We haven't see the rest of what we're buying yet, what if we by a player that's more of an attacking wide man, ala Ramirez (for example).
